The *Official* Supreme Commander Thread

BTW, as somebody has stated before, of you have the french unit guide with your copy of supreme commander, just pop into you local game, they seem to be just handing them out... not only do you not requie a proof of purchase, i stated that i didnt buy mine with game, and i got 3 copies as i stated that 2 of my mates would like one... which was utter rubbish :)

I would really appreciate some input on this. When playing a skirmish game with 2 or more CPU players I get this problem where orders have a delay of almost 10 seconds! It varies from unit to unit but the worst case is with engineers especially when you have a large group working on a long queue of buildings. They just sit there for ages and then eventually move. If you have several engineers assissting a single engineer, they willl usually lag behind the leading engineer and not do anything for ages.

This problem only manifests itself about half way through a match where you are mass producing and getting ready to attack; funnily enough the delay seems to lessen once you do start attacking. I've also noticed that it mainly happens in sea maps.

Anyone else experiencing this?

what if your GPGnet is rubbish and doesn't work lol

You need to run patch.exe that GPGNET will have downloaded, have a look in its directory. For some reason it won't run the program itself. Once GPGNET has been patched it will patch supreme commander fine.

Only problem now is that my game doesn't work anymore LOL! It crashes out with this error message. I'm using the new 100.41 drivers with an 8800GTX on Vista x64.

Just a quick question. The AI on all the hard modes is tediously poor. Are there any AI tweaks which will make it more challenging? I guess its too soon after the release to ask for this.

Why can't I build any experimental units? When I build a teir3 kbot, I click on the experimental section of the buildings he can make, and all I get is fatboys & artillary? Is the fatboy the experimental unit for UEF?

the fatboy is the UEF experimental unit, it has four battleship cannons with great range, it has its own shield generator, can build all level 1 and 2 ground units as well as level 3 construction units, plus its enormous and submersable, pretty good unit IMO, better than the monkeylord, though the galactic colossus is better again :)

costs more than monkeylords
it gets owned QUICKLY by the cybrid lvl 4 airship

The Monkeylord, Fatboy and the Mavor are easily the best 3 units.

The monkeylord is cheap and VERY powerful up close, plus it has AA and some long range weapons as well as it is submersible.

The Fatboy is like a moving factory with shields and T3 artillery and the added bonus of being submersible and so it can supply a continous steam of units to back your offensive strategy up whilst you keep some engineers on assist and some to build your own mines or defences in place of the enemies you crush.

The Mavor is sooooooo powerful and precise that when it gets in range of an enemy base it is GAAAAAME OVERRRR!

With the exception of the Mavor, the Fatboy and the Monkeylord are cheap enough and quick enough to build that they are often seen on the battlefield. They are also both multitasking. They can be used as purely offensive weapons or as the backbone of a major push forward.

NEVER and I mean NEVER use an experimental on its own! They are not designed as a single unit to conquer all. When accompanied they soak up damage and increase the fire power of your offensive. All experimentals are EXTREMELY weak against air power and so it is worth remembering that you should probably have some towards the end of your game

The only time I can see a reason to use an experimental on its own is as defence or as a decoy for a killing blow to your enemy. They cost far to much to just waste!

Jesus try the AI on hard cant remember the name of it but its the one where they send units constantly, rush AI i think, its shockingly hard. Been playimg TA for years and tried as hard as i could but couldnt beat them.

well just dropped my 8800gts in, my perf test resiult WAS 15400 with all medium and 2xAA. now its 16100 with everythong on "bells n whistles" very nice indeed.

I recon my next move *and only move this summer* will be to get me a 939 dual core ... it would help so much when playin with more than 3 AIs and a mate - he can't host cos its too laggy and mine just about copes with 3 on a 20 x 20 map but anythin much bigger with a cap over 500 and its a slide show :o

im enjoying this game more and more.

Is there a way to build mass energy and mass stoage though instead of building load of t1 mass/energy stores?
