The *Official* Supreme Commander Thread

My copy arrived at home today :) Only problem is I'm stuck here in Norway. I'll be back home tomorrow afternoon so will have all weekend to play it.

I am writing to inform you of a problem with your Supreme Commander Aeon Faction Edition order.

It has come to our attention that due to a mix-up at the THQ Logistics Corps, you have been furnished with a French language map with your copy of the game.

Those responsible for this terrible error are now cooling their heels in the Brig awaiting Court Marshall. Meanwhile, we are set to receive new maps, in English, and will despatch them to you as soon as we can. Via Carrier Pigeon. Or Royal Mail.

We would also like to inform you of a printing error at the... umm... THQ Disc Printing Corps. As a result the Disc you have received reads "Bonus UEF Faction DVD". The data on this disc however, is perfect – do not worry, it is indeed the Aeon Faction Edition Disc – THE INTEGRITY OF THIS DATA IS UNCOMPROMISED.

From the e-tailor I bought it from. I thought it was a bit wierd considering the UEF printing and the french tech tree map :D

I love amusing emails like that, not many places seem to try and put humor into emails with news such as that. As the humor can cool the tempers of some people who might be really peeved. :p
 
I was hoping this thread would let us know how the game compared to the demo/beta with regards to AI, large groups of units moving (the demo was appaling as they all move/stop/move/stop when trying to move 50 or so units in a group!) and to see how large the huuuuuge maps are.

Seems its just turned into a "I have it first" or "I had it cheaper" thread :( Three pages and no reviews or info!

Roll on the screenies and reviews all you lucky ones who have it already!

Well technically the game is still yet to be released. The ones who already have it just got lucky with a retailer that ships before the release date. Give it a few days or a week tops and this thread will be a damn sight longer hopefully with many screenshots and player reviews of sorts.

I noticed the move stop move stop action with large groups, was rather annoying as the units all arrived in a long line. But personally, i can live with it.

One thing that amuses me is all over the net people are reviewing it based on the Demo and the Beta which is normal. But soooo many are saying "its rubbish, the graphics are too inferior, C&C's better" etc... All i can think is, i feel sorry for those people who take things purely on face value. And, in the great Yoda style,

'a good game, graphics do not make'

I might not get my copy until Saturday :( I hope it does arrive tomorrow though.

You've got to admit that they help though, and since the graphics are meant to be one of the main things this has over and above TA, being launched with only mediochre graphics isnt going to get it off to the best start.

Agreed, they certainly do help, but personally i'd prefer a game that has excellent gameplay, instead of a game that looks superb but plays like running into a brick wall. Thats why i still play TA more than any other RTS game, even now, 10 years on. TA's bad graphics (by todays standards) still have a warm place in my heart and puts a smile on my face whenever i see them, the same cant be said for a fair few more modern RTS games :D

So it must be a problem with the cybran pack as well as the Aeon pack. I hope my UEF pack doesn't contain a spanish, italian or even worse, an 'American' version of the tech tree. :D

Dont Worry now one company or individual this side would be so cruel :D

"Aeon Faction Edition..." - i did read this just before i posted but wasn't sure if anyone else had it also with Cybran.
 
Where the hell do the Screenies go? :confused:

Tried to take some piccies of the big maps but i sodding can't find them!
