The **Official** Test Drive Unlimited for PC thread

wouldnt recommend downloading this, Atari are supposedly clamping downa nd anyone on the servers may have their accounts wiped if they dont reinstall the basic game or summin......not worth the risk considering how much some peeps have put into this game

Here is a link to a translated site that has the patch, although i wouldn't recommend downloading it as you may loose all your hard work. Although i am going to try anyway as my game was corrupted a while ago :p

Well the leaked patch seems to have given me a few more fps and it didn't kill my game, but i was playing in offline mode. I have a few pics of the skyline and rs4.

Jeez, you wanna read the fall-out from this on Atari's forums!!! There's people being banned all over the place and looks like the mods were up at 2am ensuring that no-one posted links to the "patch". Have to say that they have made a rod for their own back though. If they'd have released a patch earlier, they wouldn't have come in for so much grief.

I just KNEW the old "if they'd released the patch earlier...." excuse would be used on the Atati forums.

not quite with you there. Are you saying that people are being unfair to criticise Atari/Eden over the patch situation?

No I just knew that this would happen when I heard about the leaked beta.

Some people would download and install in a rush then find out it was a leaked beta, hear about the bans, get angry and blame Atari for taking so long.

I have to sympathise though with people who have paid good money for the game, had serious issues with losing save games (sometimes after hours and hours of play), connectivity issues and performance issues on top-end hardware regardless of res or detail settings. Then to have to wait for months for Atari/Eden to seemingly do nothing about it, not even bother to post regular updates on their official forum as to what's going on even when release dates have been suggested and passed without comment. I know people can got too far sometimes (I believe a mod may have resigned due to stress over this), but you can see why people are so angry.

People like me then? I got the game and suffered a corrupt saved game so I had to start again. I can't use the online code to drive around with mates of mine. Sometimes my game runs tickety boo, other times it struggles.

I just don't get that stressed out about it; at the end of the day its a game and I've got other games to play and other things to worry about that are slightly more important than a few thousand lines of code for a Hawaiian island game. :)

Am well happy that the R34 is there, or could be there. Got myself a 350Z at the moment.

Just a quick question, is there anywhere to actually tune the 350Z, as when looking around there is a place for American Muscle Cars, British Cars, but no Japanese cars.

Cheers

Yes you can tune the 350Z. Apart from the Alfa v8 Competizione or whatever its called you can tune every car. You need to drive along as many roads as you can to discover the tuning shops.

If you look on the Interweb you'll find a map of the island with locations of the tuning shops to help you navigate to them.

I love the 350z, such a well rounded car, goes like stink when tuned, looks the nuts and handles incredibly well. around the airport track i have given much faster cars a run for there money, simply as i had the handling advantage and balanced power out of the corners meaning you dont slip out. with driving aids off its a lot of fun :D

Pah! The Koenigegg CCX is more fun. :p

There is a time challenge on the south east of the island where, even with a tuned 350Z, I cannot beat the maxiumum time allowed. I've got a best record of about 1 second slower.

It is really really annoying. I've even tried taking another route that although is slightly longer, lets me stay at a much higher speed for a lot longer but that doesn't help me much.

Just picked this up today, runs great, but just got one weird problem.

Im using a PS2 pad with it, but for some reason i can't use the analogue stick to steer, ive got to use the D pad, as when i set it left on the stick, if i try to set the right it says i cant as im already using it for left, anyone else get that.

EDIT: Just read further back in the thread, you can use the stick to do the steering, wonder why i cant then.

EDIT again: Working now. :D
