I managed to play a bit tonight. Spent 3 hours from scratch and quite enjoyed myself. Once i got the hang of skiing it made life easier. I even got a medal for a 213KM/H flag grab I capped a few times too. Im not sure how many xp points i should be earning but i only have just over 11,000. I have also been struggling to hit with weapons as the whole jetpack thing adds another dimension to play plus im not used to the weapons.
I have only just scratched the surface but so far i quite like it. The last map i played was a little tedious though as the enemy flag carrier was camped in his base being defended havily and there was only 1 door in. Out of a team of around 10 players there was only me and one other player attemting to retrieve the flag. Grrr.
There is an awful lot to this game and i have a lot to learn but so far it has a thumbs up. iIdid a few freestyle route flag grab an exits tonight as well, some of which i capped. It felt good!
Going to try and get some games in tomorrow too.
Oh and my tribes player name is BuffetSlayer
Cheers
Buff
lol have you guys tried TDM? I just had a quick go. Grabbed the flag at the start and held it until the end of the round with x37 flag held medals lol. Quite fun skiing round and round the arena with a whole team chasing you and failing Overall the modes pretty nooby though.
Samsung, can you change my OCUK -> player ref to 1kiwi - Kiw1Fruit within the OP
Here is a flamboyant picture to 'cement' this new name
hi guys just got the game recently an for free its amazing just wondering if any good websites about for novice advice and tips
Also is it worth buying upgrades / chars etc dont really want to buy them rather unlock them and learn the game and maps etc at the same time maybe buy a xp booster ?
Btw guys, how does mumble work? I'm at work so cant download it. Do you have to join a server like on teamspeak?
I think i have the ability to be ok on Tribes, I just need to learn the mechanics. I spent all of my time last night playing as a basic soldier or pathfinder with default load outs. I feel like I am at a distinct disadvantage because there are so many options and things to buy or upgrade and I dont have a clue what any of it does Funny thing though, I capped more times as a soldier than I did as a path finder
Just one thing, during the games I was earning 'swiss bank account' credits. Are these the same as gold? Or are they only used in the server you are currently playing?
Only when I left the server last night Tribes crashed and exited to desktop with a "Ran out of video memory" error. It had worked fine for 3hrs......
Anyways I asm not sure if the swiss bank credits are the same as gold because when I loaded Tribes back up, it had kept my XP points but 'gold' was 0.
It works the same as Teamspeak/Vent. Once you are on Spinfusor, find us in the flamboyant channel and we can walk you through the config. There are a few overlay options which make it much better in games.
Have a think about what type of player you want to be and we can advise on the loadouts. The only thing I will say about slow grabs is please consider the pathfinder that has spent the last 40secs to hit 300+. Admitently I did exactly the same thing when I started and still do by pro capping standards as you're not really capping until you are grabbing at 300+ lols.
If you are aware of paths doing routes, let them grab because on the higher level servers llama grabs will only work by luck; any capable defense will chain you down. What can be useful however is e-grabs where by you stop the other team from capping by taking their flag.
Swiss credits etc are built up in game and don't count / contribute to gold. They can however be used to buy vehicles. Gold can only be purchased (or given by HiRez).
ve offered a lot of you new ocuk players help in mumble but non have seemed to have joined yet. I dunno if this is because it seems weird or you don't think you need the help. Kiwi can speak from experience though that you will progress a lot quicker with more experienced players guiding you. He plays at a lot higher skill level than 95% of the players at his rank.
