**The official Vanguard Thread**

I ordered from shatteredcrystal.com

Key is sent via email, allowing me to download and play as fast as I my bandwidth will allow. The cd's arrived about a week later. Was still cheaper than buying from UK, too.

Very nice game. Ran at about 95% of full settings and the max rez my screen can support (1680 x 1050) at a comfortable 60+ FPS. Only played for a few hours but I can see this game knocking WoW off my hard drive once and for all.

uninstalled it. Putting it on the shelf for a few months (and a few patches). Good game but dont have time for it atm.

p.s. thanks mods for lifting the suspension :)

How does the game perform for you in the big cities? If you've been to them.

This is my first post on the forums, been viewing a lot, but not really felt the urge to post before.

Right, finally decided to ditch Guildwars and move over to Vanguard, as life in Guildwars has become stale now, not really a PvP player, and exhausted PvE to death.

Downloaded it last night, finally arrived sometime between 1am and 5am whilst I was sleeping, so havent yet played it, but eager to get home and have a go.

Basically, looking for some advice from current players on recommendations for race/class to go, is there a huge advantage/disadvantage depending on race?

Those players who have experienced guildwars as well, whats the transition like? Is it easy to adjust to the change?

Finally, anyone likely to be about later who can help show the new guy around?

You do get a drop in FPS in big citys, I usally run at about 35-45 FPS and drop to 25-30FPS in citys depending on more on the amount of people than anything else.

Haven't been to any cities yet. Just been running through the country side and found a few small settlements. It does drop slighty when I'm in villages but I'm talking 7-8fps. I'd imagine bigger cities would bring the FPS down a lot more.

My new rig (e6600, 8800gts oc 640, 2gb ocz) runs vanguard at about 80fps with "highest quality" setting. The only city I've been in is Khal and that's not much different, around 60fps at worst. :)

^^ haha
I was tempted to buy this game this week, but loads of assignements just popped up for next week and the week after, plus i just got a £99 phone bill

Yeah I know, i've heard some pretty bad things about big expensive gaming machines dropping down to ~5fps in a lot of cities, just wondering if it was a widespread issue, or just a few complaining. :p

Couple screenies of a player made and sailed ship. They are very cool! Even though this one is only a sloop and can't go out in the ocean. Speed is determined by wind direction and you can beach them and stuff. PvP will be very fun on them once a lot of people start getting them.

And a very worrying camp I found near Halgarad.. naked warriors!

Is that overclocked? I've got pretty much the same system and I'm running everything at stock speeds. I'm just about to do some serious system tweaking. Will get back with results. I'm expecting to add at least another 10-15FPS.
Also, the moment the 8800GTS goes sub 200 pounds, another one will be coming my way :D

dont expect the 640 to go sub 200 in a while, nvidia are releasing a midrange remember, the ultra will only bring the GTX down to a reasonable level, its currently priced novelty after all, the 640 GTS isnt

I've got the BFG OC version of the 8800GTS. :)

Everything else at stock. A friend of mine has squeezed an extra ghz out of his 6600 through fsb alone.
