Just had a quick read of the last few pages and jeeeesh this has become a silly thread.
Why is everyone jumping on easyrider's back over computer stability? He's been posting here for years and in my eyes has valued opinions on overclocking and hardware. Its a forum not a bitching session so there's obviously going to be some heated discussions but some of the posts here are just wee taking.Mod can hopefully clean the thread up from all the dross!
He can rub some people up the wrong way but really it getting to the stage where some people are jumping on easyrider because who he is and it out of order really, yes we all get heated at times but it is becoming the common place and he seams to get a lot of stick from certain people who are not really bothered about the tread and just want to **** easy off, were it someone else most people would let it pass.
Q
Agreed, the response to one poorly judged comment was akin to a braying mob kicking an old man when he is down. Not pleasant.
Any chance of the mods losing the last few pages as the thread is of real interest?
Yep, a fresh start would be good.
The courier hasnt turned up with my E8500, thats my plans for the weekend gone they can go stick it on Monday.
(Not from ocuk btw)
Appreciate some help. I have been trying to figure what the best solution would be for running an E8xxx with the kit in my sig. The E2160 is an L2 revision and my current FSB wall is only 371 Mhz.
I would like to achieve something like a stable 4.2-4.4 clock as cost effectively as possible.
So with an E8500 thats an FSB range of 442 to 463
and with an E8400 thats an FSB range of 467 to 489
Will the PC2 6400 Geil be a limiting factor? Should I get PC2 8500? I see two options.
1. Get an E8500 and see what the Geil will do.
2. Get an E8400 and upgrade the RAM (with 2 Ghz Ballistix at c£60) that works out at about the cost of the above. Or would this be pointless as the board will be the limiting factor).
Thoughts?
Sadly the Q6600 is old tech and I have moved on and sold it.
lol never ceases to make me chuckle does easy
suppose you lost £20 on the transaction as usual *nudge*
What sort of voltage bumps are people using for the northbridge and such? My 8400 posts fine at 4.0GHz but prime goes wobbley after 10-20mins. I've tried upping the northbridge a bit but wasn't sure how high to go? This is with a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P btw.
