***The Official Wolfdale 8200/8400/8500 Overclocking Thread ***

Just did a 8 hour run:

Really tempted to get one of these but Im not sure my motherboard will hit really high FSB (Asus P5K Deluxe, seems to top out at 480FSB with my Q6600)

Would love to see what I could push the CPU to. Currently got my Q6600 with 1.54v going through it at idle temps of under 30c !

If the motherboard could get to 500mhz FSB then I'm sure I could hit 4.5ghz+ on an E8500 !

^^ Even an aging P965 P5B can do it surely the the P5K is more than upto the job?

So what is the average 24/7 clocks for these chips then? The average I've seen so far seems to be 4.2Ghz for E8500 and maybe 3.9/4Ghz for E8400?

for now i will stay with FSB 480 and that makes 3840MHz....temp in Load is not more than 50degrees (speedfan) when CPU Fan is on lowest speed (Tuniq Tower)
but as i said before...I need smth to measure temp in cores under Vista ;p not stupid speedfan heh cpu-z is not showing precise voltages as well heh
