Topitoff what is your normal every day running speed of your CPU?
Have you kept it at 4.23?
A good article, confirming much of what we are seeing from Tom et al. I was impressed that they managed to get to 4.4Ghz using mere DDR2-800 memory (although I bet the X38 mobo helped in a big way).
The only thing missing from my perspective was taht all the game benchies were of GPU bound games, which confirmed negligible benefits in performance between 3.6Ghz and 4.4Ghz. It would have been good to see a CPU bound game in there as contrast (eg FSX or Supreme Commander).
I'll run some SC benchies later tonight at various speeds between stock and 4Ghz.The only thing missing from my perspective was taht all the game benchies were of GPU bound games, which confirmed negligible benefits in performance between 3.6Ghz and 4.4Ghz. Didn't spot thatApart from the fact that they seem to think the stock voltage of the E8400 is 1.3625v. A small thing maybe, but it shakes my faith in their benchmarking procedures tbh, if they can't even get details like that right.
