Whats this? A faster 1mb Spi time with a lower clock?

Just a few comparisons between the E8400 and the E6750 I had in the system before; only difference is the chip, same drivers. But what they mean in the real world????

@3.6Ghz E8400 will do SuperPI in 12.98s and the E6750 14.20s

@4.05Ghz E8400 - 8800GTS 320 @650/950
3D2K05: 20519 - 3D2K06: 11732 5048/4776/3746 - X3 Benchy: 128.7fps

@3.2Ghz E6750 - 8800GTS 320 @650/950
3D2K05: 18425 - 3D2K06: 10887 4955/4668/2832 - X3 Benchy: 105.4fps

25FPS more, proves that these chips will net you large improvements in games. Well played. Id be more than happy with 4Ghz 24/7, but I'm expecting a few hundred mhz more than that with my 8500, 24/7.

4.5Ghz 24/7 on my Tuniq would be my goal.

What resolution was the game at?

Where is Jihad, he was intent that you'd not notice improvements in games with a higher clocked chip and that most were actually GPU limited which is not really the case with the vast majority.

It's the higher multi that are particularly attractive since 4Ghz+ requires mobo capable of high fsb.

AFAIK all initial batch of E8*** have C0 stepping so don't think they differ too much.

Well I've requested my order to be changed to the 8400, I plan to "upgrade" to the 3870 X2 when it's out providing it is good. The £50 I saved on the CPU will go with my GTX to buy one of these, so long as they're good ofc.

Decided I would be happy enough with 4-4.2Ghz :).

Topitoff results I'm happy with. Hoping he can manage to get 4.2Ghz 12 hrs stable.
