***The Official Wolfdale 8200/8400/8500 Overclocking Thread ***

Any chance of some before after comparisons of gaming with these chips after you finished tweaking them of course.
Just want a black and white picture of whether having a 4-4.5ghz cpu actually has a big impact.

I will be doing just that.

3.8ghz Quad V 4.5ghz+ wolfdale in video encoding using multi threaded software.

Above 3.6ghz quad or C2D little gains will be seen in todays games .

Yeah.

May the best CPU win!

Just a few comparisons between the E8400 and the E6750 I had in the system before; only difference is the chip, same drivers. But what they mean in the real world????

@3.6Ghz E8400 will do SuperPI in 12.98s and the E6750 14.20s

@4.05Ghz E8400 - 8800GTS 320 @650/950
3D2K05: 20519 - 3D2K06: 11732 5048/4776/3746 - X3 Benchy: 128.7fps

@3.2Ghz E6750 - 8800GTS 320 @650/950
3D2K05: 18425 - 3D2K06: 10887 4955/4668/2832 - X3 Benchy: 105.4fps

I would like to see comparisons of a q6600 at 3.2GHz against one of the wolfdales at 4GHz... I think these are more along the averages people could expect from them, without high voltages and high temps - most of us aren't extremists :)
