** The Official WWDC 2009 Thread **

I'd hold judgement for a few days.

I'd be very surprised if the person running Twitter is the head honcho at O2. If there's enough outrage at no upgrade for exisiting then I'm sure they will change there mind.

Not worth me doing a hardware upgrade, looking forward to using 3.0, i got my phone on release date so no way i'm paying £300+ for very little more.

Not impressed with the internet teathering costs, hopefully each contract will come with a small amount of data to be used via teathering each month 500mb or so, i mean they charge enough for the iPhone contract so i fail to see a reason why they can't do this.

I am suprised O2 did not allow iPhone 3G customers to upgrade to the 3GS early, like they did the the original iPhone -> 3G.

Albeit, you had to succumb to another 18 month contract but at least you had the option.. I don't understand why they changed their policy..

£538.30 for PAYG, 32GB

Normally I would've thought that, but Apple definitely wouldn't sell Snow Leopard outright for $29.

Wait and see I guess :(

The SL disc will check for an initial Leopard install then go ahead with the SL install.. giving you the all the options of a normal retail install. Once SL is installed, you can reformat as normal because the check will detect SL, and proceed.

That's how it worked with pop-in update discs. e.g. if you bought a machine right before an OS update.

I dont get all the moaning regards not being able to upgrade within contract without buying out your contract. The IPhone3G is like any network subsided phone and so dealt with in the same way...

It isnt special/uniquely sold in any way and in all honesty you would have to be very naive to think otherwise...

ps3ud0

That's how it worked for all other revisions of the iPhone.. hardly naive thinking is it? :p;)

Why do iPhone customers think they are any different from normal customers? It's standard policy for any contract customers in the UK to pay-off the outstanding line rental if you wish to upgrade early.

Was it a free upgrade to the 8GB? Then the start of a new 18month contract?

Feel sorry for all the 3G customers that are stuck in contracts for another 6+ months! I've got a 2G (jailbroken) on another monthly contract but should be free of that in a month or two, deffo getting one of these :D

Means there'll be more stock for those of us who don't already have iPhones :D

Is there a good quality play back of the show? usually Apple have it on their site but I cant see it anywhere!?

It usually appears around 10/11pm at apple.com/quicktime or in HD on iTunes around 1am.
