** The Official WWDC 2011 Thread **

I didn't say what I want from a phone is all that matters.

MobileMe? Really? That service is rubbish, I used to pay for it..god knows why, Google do all the syncing stuff for free. I started using that on my iPhone and it worked identically. As for iTunes...I guess if you're heavily invested in it that can be an issue, but I thought they dropped the DRM? So you can now use iTunes music on any device...hmm yeah I fail to see why iTunes and MobileMe are considered something it lacks.

I was personally so happy to be rid of iTunes. The syncing is so archaic in that you are stuck to the same iTunes library ID, so if I reformat my PC I have to format my phone too as it won't let me sync from the phone to PC, only PC to phone. Idiotic decisions. I've never tried it on my Mac so I'm not sure if that works the same way.

iCloud will be MobileMe's saving grace, that's if they decide to tack it onto that.

Lol you can't seriously be judging market share based on your area...that is ridiculous.

Your entire post lists things which are either opinion or not the case.

1. MobileMe works fine and this is why I pay for it. Google does not do everything MM does and it doesn't work all the time as demonstrated by my mate [and a few people in another thread] who uses it for his 3GS.

2. I can dual sync between my MP and MBP using my iPhone. This means if I'm not at home I can still sync my iPhone and when the MBP gets back software syncs the library back to my Mac Pro and everything is just as it should be. No reformatting my phone or anything.

3. iTunes works fine for me and I'm still using the library that I started back in 2005 on a PowerMac G4 using 10.3!

This setup works for me, and does exactly what I want with the minimum of fuss, why the hell would I give that up for Android which is basically the same give or take in every other area?:confused::confused:

I think it's best we leave it there because I don't think we will agree on this...

Finally, your link only shows smartphones, smartphones:non-smartphones which here are in about a 50/50 ratio. Although I am in a university environment so therefore the iPhone get's picked because it's "cool" apparently!

Sounds like you've got a faulty battery.

Most likely. It's been like that since release day, yet my mates who's iPhone is from the same batch lasts ages.

I've left it too long to get a replacement now though I think, but will be getting the iPhone 4s if there is such a thing announced, so wont matter too much. :)

So surely the rolleyes were better directed at yourself for not getting a faulty product fixed within warranty? ;)

[Edit] Actually hang on, the iP4 hasn't been out quite a year yet, you can still take it back to an Apple store?

Haven't been reading up on rumours this year - is it looking likely for a new iPhone? Whether it be a similar upgrade like 3G to 3GS or a new one completely?

Rumours are that we will see a new iPhone but it'll be a lot later in the year due to delays from the devastation in Japan.

Why is mobileme so good? Doesn't google sync everything for you for free anyway ? Genuine question

I setup a Google account so I got true Exchange ActiveSync push and I kept getting the email chime twice every time one email came through. Never bothered with Gmail since.

You can get replacement batteries on eBay for £10 with the kit to open them.

Some of them are even 'genuine' Apple batteries.

As for Google syncing, it was harder to set up than MobileMe but once it was set up I never had any issues with it. Emails came through once and were always pushed. I actually had issues with MobileMe not pushing email from time to time. Also if I remember right reading mail on your MobileMe inbox never used to count them as being read for your phone, where as with Gmail reading mail on the web also marked them as read on my phone. This might have changed though or I could just be wrong.

I don't really understand why anybody would pay for MobileMe. iCloud would be a great start to making MobileMe worth paying for, at the moment it's worse than a free service.

I use mobile me because having used a lot of other services, I think it's the best.

@ Margaret.

If I delete / read a message on my iPhone / Macbook they are marked or moved on the other device. You're wrong with that.

I've never once had a single problem with mobile me. Fantastic imho, and that's why I use it.

I've not followed the iCloud shizz but will keep an eye out for that.

So is all the "news" scheduled for tomorrow at 6pm? Or do they drip feed it to us over the course of the WWDC?

Engadget will have a live video feed! I guess this means no official streamed video, but equally I won't have to rely on a purely text-based commentary. W00t.

Don't get too excited - It looks like it'll be live before and then after the conference...

But this year we're bringing you more: two live broadcasts to give you some extra analysis. At around 10:30am ET (that's 7:30am on the best coast), before Apple kicks off the show, Tim and Darren will go over the expected big announcements for the day, talking iCloud, iOS 5, and Mac OS X Lion. Then, once the dust settles, join us again for a second live broadcast to dive deep into the day's announcements and any other surprises Mr. Jobs has in store for us. Hopefully we'll all survive.

Well I'm not sure what I'll do here, I think I might just down right block it all out and wait for the video...thats no surfing and no MSN!

Doesn't leave me with much to do after 6, I can only play L4D2 for about 45mins before I rage quit, or I'll watch the soaps.

:o :p

I have been thinking about that - But I know for a fact I will want to be on Engadget and on here probably throwing rubbish such as:

"iOS5 OH YEEEAAAHHH! :p"
Or other classics like...
"Whoa! That was awesome."

:p

We need a Steve Jobs sound board

"All new design!"
"Much thinner!"
"This thing is great!"

:D I do enjoy his product launches.

Is the keynote going to be streamed live?
Or is it a case of watching live blogs again?
Cheers!
