Don't need a PC for activation...so far. I guess backup could be revealed with iCloud shortly?
It's optional. Never ever use iPad in that orientation anyway.
I actually use it in portrait most... I've got used to typing like that, hands on either side using the thumbs. Not sure if I could use the split though
Small updates I think I heard.
You only download the parts of the program that changed, i.e. instead of having to download a brand new App in its entirety you just download the few KB of date that has changed.
Think they mean you only need to download the updates parts, i.e not the whole application each time.

It'll only include the bits that have actually changed - for example a large software update might only be 10% of actual changes. A delta update will only be the 10%, not a whole new OS that's only 10% different.
Good example is Time Machine backups - each time it only actually backs up what's changed since the last one.
I think it basically means it will only download and install things that are being changed in the OS update. So it won't be a whole new OS install - it'll just update the apps that need to be updated. Saves on data as the download is a lot less than a normal update.
