Maps epic, if people leave the anonymous data on. There's enough iPhone users to make this work, jsut maybe.
Now they should release a standalone gos to help those stats.

I would've thought Google will offer it as a standalone app.

Possible, maps will no longer be driven by Google...interesting choice by Apple. However it does look like an INCREDIBLE amount of time and effort has gone into this.

I wonder what it will be like outside of the US though.

How is it going to burn up data? It's not going to stream pre-rendered data, it's rendered client side.

Unless they implement something like live tiles, theme change is pointless.

We never had that in the (Google based) Maps app on iPhone or iPad, so we aren't loosing it.

What Apple has just demoed is pretty amazing, it makes all the standalone navigation manufacturers offerings look pretty boring now.
I'm sure there will be some new article somewhere about the anonymous data usage though that is required to power things like the traffic feature.
