I hope your all speccing 16GB with your Retina MBP, otherwise your bait shafted...

Why? Most people don't even use close to 4GB, let alone 8GB. If you're running a ton of VM's or something extremely memory heavy then you'll know you need more RAM. But OS X and regular programs aren't going to drastically change in the 2-3 years before buyers of this upgrade that they outgrow 4GB, let alone 8.

I upped the RAM in my mid-2010 MBP from 4 to 8GB earlier this year and wow, it was like getting a brand new computer! OS X does great with 4GB but it absolutely flies with 8GB+.

Not bad for a £35 layout! Personally I would look at getting 8GB as a minimum in a future Mac purchase. If the sods are gonna solder the RAM to the bloody board, you may as well get as much as you can afford - you never know what you may be asking of your machine a few months/years down the line.
