** The Official WWDC 2022 thread “Call to code” - Keynote 6th June at 18:00 BST **

Given the lock screen widgets are basically Complications from the Watch, I'm hoping that means a lot of devs could get on that really quick. I'm further guessing that, given they're likely just complications, then they'll also work well on an always-on screen that may or may not be coming on the 14 Pro :p :D

Main issue I have is if Apple is suggesting we should move back to a single point of authentication, as that seems a bit silly in terms of security

The only way someone will get into your accounts then though is if they physically have access to your devices. You can't give them something that doesn't exist (there is no password to give out or steal or harvest).

On windows login to a website requires (what I think I saw) was a QR code of some sort.

So point and login with a mobile phone maybe?

Plus the biometric login that happens (Touch/FaceID)....

But that's not MFA, ie - needing multiple points of data, typically a password and a (number of) OTP, to authenticate an account.

Passkeys appears to be a standard key pair solution which is great until someone gets hold of the private key. But it isn't MFA.

As said, documentation appears light so I'm going to hold judgement until I can play around with it and see if MFA can still be used with it - although I can still issues even if it does.

If it's secure nobody will get a hold of the public keys or private keys. Lets see what comes. Someone in the keynote said it's just the beginning for passwordless environments so they might have something in the pipeline.

So iOS 16 has...

Minimum requirement of iPhone 8 and above now (or SE 2nd gen+).
Live Activities won't be there on launch, just "later in the year"
Lift Subject and Live Text in video needs an A12 Bionic or greater (so iPhone XR/XS or better)
Enhanced CarPlay "vehicle announcements" coming Late 2023.

macOS Ventura needs minimum of 2017 models, with MBA and Mini needing 2018+, and Mac Pro needing 2019+

Reading conflicting reports about the plug availability but found it in the store.

Hmm. I have the 30W charger for fast charging my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Not sure I should think about getting another one.

Yep, I'm absolutely gutted about that, it'd be ideal for my use case for the next good few years, but hey ho see what comes out in a few months.
I’ve got a Studio Display coming and so I need a Mac to power it. Base M1 Mini with upgraded 16GB RAM is £808 with HE pricing. Think that will do more until we have new Mac Minis.

Yeah I've got the base M1 Mini, but only with 8GB RAM which for 75% of the time when I'm just browsing and faffing is not a limiting factor, when I'm in work mode on side projects though it very quickly becomes a problem. I don't want to get the M1 16GB now though.

I wonder whether supply issues are the reasoning. They can't produce enough M2s because of what's going on round the world so no updated Mac Minis or iPad Pros.

Finally the iPhone 6S is out of support, aswell as the 7, they had a very long life!
