Oh dear. yes I found the noise is only there when the fan is at low rpms, when I used ATT to increase the rpms to 100% the rattle goes and is replaced by a low roar, but in normal use the card will never ramp itself up in speeds due to running so cool (averages about 60°C full load).SenTineL said:Another rattler here (HIS 512 MB version) and as an added bonus I've also got the cut down bundled pack.
Anyway, I've just checked the white cable and it's of the nice short cut to length variety
I was really bored and did some testing with the manual fan slider in ATT. I was hoping if I gave it a good long run at 100% it might disappear, but alas, no. Annoyingly the rattle seems worse when running 'silently'
So there was something 'deffo' up with the Sapphire version you had then? [edit: or was it HIS?]Freakitchen said:Received my Power Color x1950Pro this morning. Installed it using 6.12 drivers and CCC. No problems under load for this card, so I'm happy
It actually idles and maxes out at a couple of degrees cooler than the HIS I had (38 and 54 respectively) - which is probably down to the slightly lower clock speed of the PowerColor model. Produces some pretty nice visuals in Need for Speed Carbon, with graphical settings on high. Frame rate stays above 60 throughout.
I don't, I ordered the Power-Colour cards for some builds I was working on over xmas (they didnt fit the case) so returned those for a pair of HIS cards (one for me one for mate) and then another mate bought the 512MB HIS so I got to play with that.SkeeterPSA said:Wayne how come you get tones of cards to test?

I'm trying to keep tabs on which cards are doing what? SO far it seems 0% issues with the Power-Colour X1950 Pro (apart from huge HSF), the Vanilla Sapphires are overheating?, some HIS models are non-silent and so far one hasn't worked at stock settings . . .
have a look at the thin white power cable, is it cut to length or is it way too long with the excess tucked behind the fan?Proc said:Received my HIS 256mb X1950 today, my new build is not all with me yet, still got a few parts to buy, so i can't test it

I can't really help u much ShiWarrior as I'm a bit nOOby with ATT, I just did the default install and thats it. I haven't used it for much yet, I like the FPS counter it gives, monitoring of temps and such like. Didn't get much out of my X1950 Pro on the overclocking side of things, GPU goes up to about 650MHz ish and then locks up, the memory moves 1 or 2 MHz and then I lose VGA (blank screen?). There are options for 'low-level' overclocking or 'driver-level' but neither seem to work very well. Still gotta try the good old ATI-Tool, didn't use that for 6 months or more but that has worked well for me in the past . . .ShiWarrior said:I think i know why my ATI tray tools isnt working corectly
when u install it, it says about I2C ? do i enable it ? (the compatible mode) or disable it?
