Wayne with regards to the games you mentioned, i'd say play Half-Life/Half-Life 2, then Battlefield 2. BF2 has no single-player to speak of, just against bots. I really like the Dark Messiah demo and a mate who has finished it is selling me the full game for £10 :D . Should look nice when the new rig is built.

Hi :)

I have just put a new system together and have got a sapphire ultimate silent X1950 Pro, with a Asus DH Deluxe motherboard that supports crossfire.

I looked at the first post which said crossfire but i couldnt find anything that told me what sort of performance I would get by sticking another card the same in?

Basically I have got the sapphire now, so getting an 8800 is too late, but what improvements would i see by linking 2 up? would it be worth it?

Im not talking 3d marks or anything, just rough figures will do.

edit - in case this helps I have a:

Duo Core 6300 (but i will be asking for assistance on overclocking that soon ;)
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Corsair 2 x 1GB Matched DDR
Zallmann CPU Cooler
500watt PSU

Cheers for that, so you get about a 70% increase in performance then, not bad

i hope you read the whole article and didn't just look at that one page. remember kids, 3dmark is not a game. :D

:o my bad

so it seams that you need to be running big screen resolutions and then its only certain games that get a kick out of it.

I couldnt believe that COD2 @ 1600 x 1200 FSAA 8xAA runs slower with 2 cards !!!

it doesnt seem to be worth and extra £127 really does it, perhaps saving the cash till later in the year for an 8800 might be the best thing to do

Oh where are the X1950 pro'ers? Probably immersed in intense 3D environments whilst chuckling "all this for around £130" :D

Loving my silent HIS, I must say.

I'm deeply immersed in getting my new e6300 build up to speed (had all the parts since before xmas but was only able to start building it a week ago!!).

Left it running stock for a week while I sussed out the drivers and config etc and finally started upping the FSB last night . . . I'll be back soon! :D

Just bought and installed a powercolor X1950 Pro 512MB. Really pleased with it, it really is silent and it sits @ 34*C idle and 42*C loaded.

Massive!!

I ran a test on 3D Mark 06 and I can't seem to view the results of it cause when I submit them online it says it failed. Anyone any ideas?

You probably have the maximum number of projects. Use project manager and delete some
