*** The Official X1950 Pro Thread ***

Couple of pics of my PowerColor x1950Pro, if anyone's interested :) Notice that the card nicely disects the chipset fan in two - good job I never needed an aftermarket cooler on there!

I have to say im really impressed with these cards, the sheer number there flying out the doors is great for business im sure, performance wise nothing give you better bang for buck lets just hope ATI have a successor to this and can keep up with the 8600 8500 etc nvidia have planned.

Just installed my brand new his 1950pro 512mb ice q3. i am getting some grief here as it idles at 45c and loads at 55c+ then seems to cut out. if i cut the clock speed back to 600mhz it doesnt cut out but it still runs hot. any ideas please?

Run it at stock, what IDLE temps u get?

also whats inside your case like? whats the temp on the mobo and CPU? can the air circulate?
What speed is the GFX card fan running at?

at stock speeds 620mhz and 1485 it idles at 42c with fan set to 100% if i lower the fan setting it idles at 44c the internal case temp is currently 25c. I havent even tried to overclock yet as it would be nice if it would run at default first :) will just whip it out an dmake sure the heat sink is seated correctly i think

Hi there,

Bit of a noobish question :) Just got an HIS X1950 pro, looked in the ATI Control Centre and it shows the gpu at 623mhz (which is fine) but the memory shows 743mhz. This sounds a lot lower than it should be, is something wrong with my card?

743 x 2 = 1486mhz

overclocking = faster = hotter. doesn't come as a suprise, just leave it at stock!

I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the extra £20 for a 512mb HIS Pro... But then I could spend ANOTHER £15 or so and get an XT.

Ever decreasing circles, this is! :D

I had the same dilema, really its simple.. Pro. More ram and the clock speeds on it isn't much far behind. It will be able to handle DX10 games better with more RAM so your future proofing!

So is this something to do with DDR? Sorry I'm really not that clued up on this kind of stuff :(

Depending on the application, sometime the memory speed is rated as its actual speed, and sometimes it is referred as its effective speed (which is doubled in DDR, Double Data Rate).

that is the stock speed i havent overclocked it one bit that is what is worrying me. also i am getting freezes and lockup so vpu has to recover etc. any ides

yeah looks within tolerances i guess. The newest version of the ati drivers must have not agreed with it as they made it crash a lot. i have uninstalled them and put the ones on the disk on instead and it seems more stable.

I think the newer drivers disagreed with it will give it a few days and see how it plays.

thanks

That's what I was thinking! :D

Do you have plenty of airflow, case fans etc?

Looks fine according to that bench

hehe my gecube obviously runs much cooler than all of them!! lmao
I always thought that the temp sensor was built into the chip itself?

With my Gecube I couldnt detect the temperature cause it didn't have a sensor, this powercolor has one though. Are you able to detect the temperature in overdrive with your gecube?
