Think of it like this: A power supply has a 30A transformer in the primary. And 3 x 18A current limited rails.

So it could supply.

18 + 6 + 6
6 + 18 + 6
6 + 6 + 18

or even

10 + 10 + 10

Or anything in between. But no more than 30A in total. You can't get more out than put in. In fact, less!!

Tell me you didn't spend £80 on a Jeantech??

god no it was £35 in [A competitor! - Minstadave] as the original died. i didnt want to buy it but at the time it was that or £95 for some higher up modle from the same manufacturer.

i have decreased the clock to below default to see if that helps until i can get a better psu. it will still be better than the x700se i took out anyway :D

That bench is so wrong it's funny! The normal Sapphire runs about 10-20C hotter than the HIS :D Idle is about 45C, rising to 60+ under load.

Yeah, it does seem VERY strange that the regular Sapphire is made out to be the coolest of the bunch there.

The temps listed for the PowerColor, though, are very similar to what mine manages at both idle and load.

I agree my sapphire x1950 pci-e idle temp is about 57 and it at load its around 74/75 but it jumped up to 78 when playin need for speed carbon.
I need some new cooling both on this card and in my case. can anyone recommend a very reliable cooler. i know this will void my warranty but it seems like it needs some colling.
Can anyone offer any cooling solutions for my case. I guess I need a fan which sucks out the hot air. What info do you need about my case to help me find a good cooling system.
thanks.

yeah looks within tolerances i guess. The newest version of the ati drivers must have not agreed with it as they made it crash a lot. i have uninstalled them and put the ones on the disk on instead and it seems more stable.

I think the newer drivers disagreed with it will give it a few days and see how it plays.

thanks

i got the HIS ICEQ3 256 model and im ideling@ 38-40 C oh and the fan speed is not 100 % its about 65%

using the ATI 6.12 drivers

What's this problem 3 people have had getting a a PCI-E power plug into their cards?

For those people not knowing the HIS bundle didn't include an adapter I did make a point of saying here

Do you think its the card? or perhaps it could have been a very cheaply made adapter? u tell me :)

Just checked my Corsair psu to see if has got a pci-e plug (it has, 2 of them). They both fit into the gfx card very easily, so if anyone is on the lookout for a new psu, then i say buy the Corsair.

Aaargh the HIS rattle has just come back again  It's been gone for two weeks

Unlucky, just when we'd thought you'd solved it. Think the fan could have come loose again?

God knows. But the rattle, the bluey/red playback of WMV, and the occasional glitch in 3D mark, only mean one thing, I think I'm out of the X1950 pro club :( Think I'm going for a x1950XT. Unless I can sort this playback issue out? if I turn the performance accelerator down, it cures the problem, but I can't play full screen which is useless. Anyone got round this?
