Ordered the connect3d 1950 pro 256MB card from ocuk today to replace my 6800gt pci express , how much better will this card be ?? Is ATI the king still at antialiasing ?? and seeing as i play a lot of xbox 360 games instead of pc games now what games would you recommend ?? i have only been playing fm2007 that is a fairly recent release i do have need for speed carbon on pc but the fps was terrible with my 6800gt .

Hi beast, I don't have any issue with .wmv?

What version of WMP are you using? also have u installed any funny codec packs? Did you change drivers going from your Sapphire X1950 to your HIS X1950 Pro?

I don't have to fiddle with any 'performance accelerator' settings?

Don't wanna rub it in but video/dvd playback is awesome here, either its something u can fix or could there be a fault with your card?

Regardless of that, I wouldn't be happy about the rattle (thats why I RMA'ed that card I had).

Note: regardless of which HIS bundle you get neither of them include a molex-to-PCI Express power adapter, so if your PSU doesn't have a PCI-Express plug make sure you buy an adapter!

Sealed box containing the three coloured lead HDTV cable(?), one DVI to analogue adapter, two disks, manual.

On the box it states S-Video and Composite cable in addition. Contacting HIS to see if I can get these cables from them.

Like Big.Wayne says rma the card and get another. As for the wmv issue i get the same thing, i'm running a 6800gt agp. Not had the problem until recently, so i think its a codec or driver issue, it seems like theres something wrong with the contrast. Hope my X1950 works ok, really looking forward to having a blast with it.
 
Just dowloaded media player 11, if the problem is gone then I'll keep the card, I can live with the occasional rattle (it's only happened that once)
 
im using 11, its fantastic, looks so much better

no performance increase or decrease, my X1950 PRO is still going like a bat out of Hell :D
 
HIS seems okay with WMP11. I like the new look too.

(I mean have a kip and see how I feel, not that i'm going to sleep on the graphics card. that would be both painful and pointless.)
 
Wayne you legend :p Pretty accurate, but just visualize more gut on the fella and substitute the mag for a well thumbed copy of hustler ;)

The rattle on the fan has become comically loud, the HIS is going back tommorow :(

Question is, is it Ultimate time... or is it x1950 xt time?!!

I've got the same problem with WMVs, I've had it with my last two ATI cards, there is a proper fix for it although I can't remember it. In the meantime I've just turned off WMV acceleration
 
Got my PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 512MB the other week.....and tbh Im rather annoyed....Cant change the gpu voltage, cant push the core further that 610 and the mem wont go further than 719..........Will ATI release some proper drivers for this card, or should I trade it in for something else?
 
Well I went from the Pro to XT

Very quiet at idle - noisier than a noisier thing when playing but you've got the sound up or the 'phones on

ATI tray tools works nicely and it overclocks well
 
my his agp 512 1950 pro will come 2morrow.....i was wondering if my overclocked to 3ghz 2.4 p4 478 and 2gb ddr 400hz ic7 rig will handle it??? or does bottleneck come 2 mind??....got a xconnect 500watt psu by the way....thanks

You'll be well away, most games are GPU limited anyway.
