Added reviews and a couple of 'oldish' 256MB vs 512MB comparisons to the opening post.

If you have any good links (reviews, benchmarks etc) post them up and I will add them.

Well my new system build starts earlier than i thought, for anyone else interested the x1950 pros are on this week only. Some cracking deals, the HIS 256mb for £129, the 512mb are around £150 which is also tempting, I'm thinking of ordering one of the HIS 256mb ones tomorrow.

Thanks OCUK :D

Has anyone upgraded from an X1800XL to one of these. Mine will clock to X1800XT speeds. Is it worth upgrading from my X1800XL at XT speeds to one of these or am I wasting money?

Hi there

We now have the best range of X1950 Pro's by miles in the UK and the fact we have all models in stock and at incredible low prices is a bonus. :)

yep sure is and i have to say i reckon the 1950pro is best bang for ya buck card ever made.

Hi there

Yup I'd agree with that, for the money nothing can touch it and its been ATI's savior whilst the 8800 has been about.

Today alone we've sold 100+ of the AGP X1950's, mainly Sapphire.
Though not as manu PCI-E versions, only done 76pcs of those today. :)

yeah bringing it out for the AGP slot was master stroke for ati. so many people have a good agp system and must have assumed agp was dead and forgotten. now the 1950pro agp is out and its whole new lease of life for there pc's. at relatively small price.

Well, the 7800GS+ has been filling that gap for quite some time but the premium you had to pay was and still is insane compared to the X1950Pro. It's a shame ATI didn't get on the 80nm wagon quicklier as they could've filled that hole in the market a long time ago and made some killer profits.

Hope its cheaper when its my birthday in march. The agp HIS 512mb one. Cos i dont really wana spend more than what the pci versions are costing.
I think you'll be hard pressed to find an AGP card that isn't more expensive than the PCI-E equivalent. PCI-E is just growing ever more popular, especially since Core 2 Duo and AM2 grounded themselves in the CPU market.

these exact cards were over £150 less than a week ago, at this price I can see the HIS 256MB selling out fast!! In fact I just bought two!

Not that much cheaper only say 5-10 quid.
Lol some people are never happy, how would u feel if the price had gone up by 5-10 quid! :p

ATI are gonna release a Monster in March (could be sooner, could be later!) but as always the price will be high at release date, so in my mind June is gonna be the time we see some sort of 'mainstream' part which doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

the X1950 pro gets to power my gaming until June and maybe if I manage to be really controlled it may last until next xmas!

I really don't think we are gonna see anything better in the sub £150 GPU market for several months, unless nVidia do a mental price slash on their 7950 Series ;)

Hi guys I'm looking for a move from a 7800 GS OC (AGP) and was wondering if the Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB would be a worthy upgrade step or is it not going to be worth the hassle of selling my old card etc.

yea its not too bad a card. but it struggles in games like tombraider legend with next gen content enabled even at a rez of 1024x768. and even marvel ultimate alliance struggles to run with advanced lighting on and shadows at max, and thats on my card running at 800x600.

guess more power is needed these days.

the x1950pro is very good for the price though. [You should know better Mav - Minstadave] for the price its probably the best card going on the market now in the price/performance category. just lack of drivers were its earlier problems.

oh come on cyber for the price it is as good as you will get , of course it will struggle with games set on max if you want to do that get a 8800 gtx

By my calculations thats £260 on two x1950's, it would be better to spend £27 extra and get a DX 10 compatible better IQ and far superior performance with a 8800 GTS.

I want one of these AGP cards to replace my 6800 XFX 256MB GT, but torn between the 256 MB version and the 512 MB Version - both HIS versions.

Still not sure which to get.

Depends on what resolution you game at.

If its 12x10 then 256mb would be fine.
