*** The Official X1950 Pro Thread ***

Well I also play to get a 22" monitor with res of 1680 x1050, so should the 256MB be fine with that, and if I had *** 512 version I guess I would see little difference?

Just ordered myself the HIS 256MB. Was ready to pull the trigger and order one yesterday but very glad I waited 'till today :)

Should be a nice improvement over my 6600GT. Wasn't prepared to drop the big bucks on a video card right now, what with the whole pending DX10 situation - but if this card lasts this moderate gamer 18 months I'll be more than happy.

It's about 3X the power of your 6600GT, dude. I ran a BFG 6600GT for a year and that was great. And then I bought this beastie !!!

Fantastic. Shame about the whole 'new year' thing, or it would be on my doormat tomorrow!

Thanks to OcUK for reducing it this week :)

So now the 256mb models of the Sapphire, HIS, and PowerColor X1950 are pretty much the same price, which one would be the best option? Any benchmarks around comparing the three? Or is it simply better just to go for the trusty Sapphire...

Dunno but I keep reading about the HIS and powercolour ones not being good overclockers! so if you like to o/clock perhaps they aren't the best.

It's a pretty close match between them. So far it looks like the HIS card has the edge . . . I'm waiting for mine to arrive to hear if they are quiet enough.

the Power-Colour cards are good, the cooler works really well but it is massive, not a problem for someone with a decent sized full tower but there is no chance of using it in a HTPC, its not the length its the height!

My mate Javier has the Sapphire card, says its great but a bit noisy under load . . .

I don't think the X1950 Pro is an overclockers card, may overclock mine a bit for benches etc but its performance is so gOOd out-the-box I don't think this is an issue :)

Oh yeah forgot the prices had been dropped for chrimbo, still if you've already got one, then you can always get a second, no need to jump on the Dx10 bandwaggon yet with bugger all for ages, and by the time anything is GTS will be ancient, and well surpassed, so you could get a second x1950 tide you over for longer, then when Dx10 is worth having pick up a much better/faster card than the GTS, as by then its gona be ancient as said.
