How long will this card last btw before something better comes along for the same price?
Going upon my 6800GT as a comparison, should do 2 years :)

I'm going for the 512mb version, definately worth the extra £20 imo. I'll be ordering next week!

Should be a big difference from my 3500+ Venice & 6800GT!

Jeeez loadsamoney, I remember when we bought similar set ups around the same time  You bought the gigabyte MB iirc!

Hard to say, depends when the new ATI GPU is out etc, even then I don't expect them to co-launch a mid-range chip at the same time. Other than that maybe nVidia will drop the prices on their 7950 series to below £150 . . .

the X1950 pro is a seriously gOOd bargain right now, your getting a lot of 'grunt' for your money £££

I was just about to buy an nVidia 7600GT 'Passive' (£100) so I feel I got a lot of extra hardware for an additional £30! :)

Hi just ordered a Sapphire X1950 512mb AGP.

I have 1 hdd, 1 DVD RW, XP 2500+(yeah I know - bottleneck extreme!), X850 pro, Hercules soundcard, 1.5 gb ram, Thermaltake Armor (with some led fans). My question is will my 420w psu be able to handle the X1950 pro? Anyone running this card with less than 450wpsu?

Thanks :)

Oh yeah forgot the prices had been dropped for chrimbo, still if you've already got one, then you can always get a second, no need to jump on the Dx10 bandwaggon yet with bugger all for ages, and by the time anything is GTS will be ancient, and well surpassed, so you could get a second x1950 tide you over for longer, then when Dx10 is worth having pick up a much better/faster card than the GTS, as by then its gona be ancient as said.

But thats not the point,

260 gets you two x1950's

27 quid more gets you a faster card with better IQ.

The 8800 GTS would destroy them.

Your reasoning is ridiculous.

How can two x1950's tide you over for longer when they are slower than a 8800 GTS?

What brand / model is your PSU?

you should be fine. dont know if the agp uses more power but my comp

e6700
2gbram
3xhdd
2xdvdrw
1950pro pci-e

when surfing the net like i am now it only uses 150watts and that includes the power to run a 17inch lcd. at load i cant see it going over 350

I have similar setup as in 3500+ venice and a 6800 (asus v9999 GE) so bit like a GT almost anyhow acording to what reviews and benchies said.

Anyhow let me know what kinda frame rates you get in the newish games if u have em like oblivion and just cause etc. And if you can get smooth fps with max ingame details and sliders full in oblivion. Using 4x aa and max af. Also reults with no aa and af for comparison.

I know its a big ask but i dont work (injury) so will have to save up to get one of these cards u see. As it may be awhile till i can get one.

Mate leave it out pls :)

LoadsaMoney don't provoke him. I don't think this thread can take another 'needless' battering! :D

Yeah sorry about that. :)

A64 3500+ will be fine for these cards, my old rig was a 3500+, handled my x1800 XT fine, cutted through everything thrown at it, was a bottleneck, but was still cracking performance, totally blew my old x800 XT PE away, so you'll still get great performance with an x1950pro and a 3500+. :)

My Sapphire came yesterday, it is indeed very loud under load :(

But that said it is also a very good card.

Any news on Overclocking yet - as looking around the web these cards appear to be pants overclockers?
