*** The Official Xbox One Thread ***

Bought an Xbox One S just over one month ago, and just noticing some minor issues which I am just worried about possibly getting worse, so just seeing if anyone has any idea about them.

Firstly, I had an original One for a few years, so was already used to that. I used to have a Kinect so initially it would take a few seconds for the camera to recognise me and sign me in. On the S I've noticed that I'm signed in instantly, but it's taking a varying amount of time to connect to the internet each time, anywhere between 2s-3s and sometimes as long as 10s-15s.

Another thing I've encountered since upgrading is with casting video over. I have been using an app and LocalCast, and previously I've had no issue at all finding the Xbox and casting over, although recently on some occasions it struggles to find the Xbox One on my app, and will require restarting the Xbox for it to pop up.

Does anyone know if these are issues with the console itself and if its worth replacing? I only worry as I did have to replace my original One once when it just started to refuse to connect to the internet one day.

Loaded up the One S last night and while there isn't really anything different to it compared to the One, the mere fact that this thing can play UHD Blu-ray's makes makes it such a bargain.

Really pleased that I upgraded.

Going to give Fifa 17 a whirl tonight for about 5 minutes to realise that I'm rubbish at it and then get back to watching some films!

HDR is worth the upgrade as well, games like Forza Horizon 3 look absolutely spectacular.

Very happy with the change from an original -> S.

Heads up - Mass effect 1,2 & 3 are now on BC - if you have EA Access (if you don't, why not?) they are included

EA Access is of no interest as I don't like sports games. I look at it from time to time but always decide that I'd only be paying for what I already have or what I don't actually want. Amazing value for those who do enjoy their sports franchises but not for me, sadly.

I took advantage of the one month free gold trial offer you get when you create a new Xbox gamertag. I've got this month's games with gold. But when I launch Mass Effect 3 in backwards compatibility mode, it doesn't recognise my gold status so I can't play multiplayer. Anyone know why?

EDIT: Dunno why it didn't work but clearing the locally saved 360 data on the Xbone fixed it.

Anyone used the advance exchange programme? Sending of my s for a hopefully quieter one as its got a bit noisier now. Was it painless enough? Paid the holding fee on my Cc if it all goes balls up.

I used it a couple of weeks ago. New Xbox One S within two days. Sent my faulty one back within the 14 days and all was fine. Pending amount on my credit card dropped off before I sent it back.

Was very impressed by the service

do you know if you can arrange a collection or do you have to take to a ups collection point?

Not really that impressed with the Xbox one S. This is my second unit (first one I sent back due to fan noise) - Already the A button has started sticking on the pad - wtf!, even the dodgy PS4 controllers with peeling rubber lasted longer than this - in all honesty I hardly game these days - maybe 4 or 5 hours per week, so surprised the controller button is already knackered - not like i'm heavy handed or owt and the kids aren't allowed on the xbone.

Also the fan noise is now back to the same level as the one I originally sent back.

/not impressed.

Probably going to have to send it ALL back just to get the controller sorted.

Same. And yes you can arrange a UPS collection.

I was thinking of selling my launch XBone and buying a Ones s to go with my new 4k HDR TV, is it worth it with all these problems?

What problems? Fan noise?

I wouldn't let that put you off, I obviously don't know the statistics on how many returns they get but i'd hazard a guess to say it's low.

Mine, for example, is whisper quiet the majority of the time.
