*** The Official Xbox One Thread ***

Remember on paper specs dont neccesarily mean better performance. Depends on how they go about implementing the extra power i guess (similar to the ps proro launch)

On paper, on silicon, on wherever, the Scorpio will likely be significantly more powerful, let's just accept that. I get what you are saying though I have a PS4 Pro and difference is not that easy for me to tell in the upgraded titles at the moment.

The Scorpio is supposed to have just over the power of 4 Xbones. So it shouldn't need any of this checkerboarding upscale that the PS4 Pro has to use. I can see myself switching back to Xbox next year.

Can anyone tell me if my Astros will fit the Xbone S controller or do i need an adapter of some sort?

My A50s plug straight into my Elite Controller so should be the same. Just connect your controller to the console via USB while the Astros are connected so it can update if necessary.

MY astros are A40s wireless it plugs in to optical and just the chat cable which is a 3.5mm male jack to the controller i think.

Yeh sorry I'll elaborate. I have the optical cable from my Xbox going to my transmitter. The USB cable going to a power socket (not connected to the console) and headset connected to controller for chat (straight into the 3.5mm jack).

The controller can also transmit game audio directly but this is poor stereo rather than my 5.1 from the transmitter.
I believe wireless A40s will work similarly.

I I get none of this stuttering either in menus or games on my S

Last week I upgraded my Launch PS4 and Xbox One to the Pro and One S and I'm pretty happy with both although the Pro sounds like a Jet taking off in VR while the One S is silent all the time!

While I agree the Xbox One may not have quite the power of a PS4 it's not that far behind and the exclusives like Forza, Gears and Halo make it worth owning and they look amazing on the One regardless of power :)

Any good deals on the One S for black Friday?? I'd like another one in blue for the bedroom (thus me and the Mrs both have one if need be :p, sold both our old xboxes)

What are you on about?

*sigh* It's up to the programmers to tap into the potential. A bit like how in the first few years the PS3 was more powerful than the Xbox 360 but had worse performing games until Naughty Dog got the hang of it and released Uncharted 2 onwards

No doubt, both companies have learned very hard lessons in the last generation. MS with their failing Xbox's and PS3 with the architecture. I hope whats not going to happen is that they both start leap frogging each other continuously like AMD and Nvidia do withe their graphics cards. I don't see Sony being happy to stick to the PS4 Pro once scorpio is out and i bet they'll have a console to release within the year of scorpio's release.

For minor updates or architectural differences, sure.

The Scorpio is an order of magnitude more powerful than the PS4/XBox One and retains the same simple architecture, so even poorly coded games should have a large performance jump.

This isn't rocket science.

Surprising how close my Xbox is, even to my PS4 Pro or some of my PC games. Gears of War 4 to me looked just as impressive as Uncharted 4 at times. Titanfall 2 looks great too, I know this looks better on PC/Pro but it looks pretty damn good on the Xbox.

And someone finally sees it. Nintendo did something almost similar with their handhelds till now (Switch is like moving from the dark ages to 10 years ago) and made a lot of money with it... this sort of thing would be guaranteed to churn out money form all those folks who want 'gud graffix' but don't feel they can afford a PC.

Consoles trying to be PCs, but without all the good parts of a PC... no wonder they haven't been doing as well in recent years. They've forgotten to play to their strengths.

no need to get into the ps4 v's xbox one debacle chaps!!!

I've always said its best to go for the platform you or your mates already game on. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I've had two xbox one S's - both were terrible for fan noise - its the same on my new one so I've just resigned to the fact they've used cruddy fans in them. GOW4 is a prime example of what I mean by poor performance - single or compaign graphics look great, go into horde mode and it all scales down looking like an xbox 360 title (well not that bad lol!).

Stuttering wise how do you guys not notice the lag in when you press the XBOX button on your controller whilst in a game for example? - Navigating around the menu's (whilst in the main menu's) stutters as the console initially loads up all the internet stuff (obviously going to be a delay here as its internet based). FH3 yesterday was pausing for a second or two and I've experienced the same with GOW. It's not a dodgy console as it was a similar experience with the older one.

We'll see what scorpio offers just like Robgmun says - it depends what the developers do and how MS go about making it all compatible with the existing xbox ones as to how well it will perform in games. DAMN IT ROB! - Hell musta frozen over - we've agreed on somat again lol! :) ;) :)

What I will concede to MS for is that smexeh Elite controller - love it to bits.

That would be the PS2, their numbers are insane and the PS4 is a very long way off those numbers

Well I mean the pace at which it is going. Isn't it outpacing PS2 at the same point in its life. Even if the eventual numbers don't beat it, it is far from "not doing well".
