Aye, I opened mine up as it was not under warranty, but I would tend to agree with you of course.
What's normal fan behaviour for the one x? I bought a brand new one yesterday, the fan is constantly changing RPM and you can easily hear this. It seems to be acting like it has a crazy fan curve. The last X I had didn't do this and it kept a consistent fan speed, wondering what's going on

Sounds like a faulty fan.
Well I googled around and it seems that other people have this issue to, they've had replacement which have still demonstrated the same thing. Not sure what to do

Does the Xbox have enough ventilation around it?
Yeah it's on a desk and not enclosed at all. My other X didn't make this noise. It's not loud, but it is distracting because you can hear the fans changing RPM so frequently. Every 2-3 seconds

Check for updates, if it's running the latest version then I would take it back and get it exchanged.
I got it replaced. Same manufacture date on the replacement, fans not staying at consistent RPM but it's not as loud. Not really sure what's going on, lots of other people reporting this on reddit, some saying it's normal
I have to say normally I don't hear my console with my headset on but I have on occasion heard it whir up briefly.
The noise of the fan isn't an issue it's the constant changing of the RPM that I'm wondering about

If you have Game Pass then just install it, you can play it as long as you have Game Pass, you can't go back to a Gold sub.

Ah the joys of internet and digital games. Even if you just want to play the game single player, and not multiplayer online . You can't even access the game if a problem with the Xbox live system.
