See now I'm really confused. They list the regular version as £25.99 but the limited tin as £24.99. Although the xbox limited tin is £39.99.

I've pre-ordered with Jersey anyway but some clarification on the above might make me switch.

I'd pre-ordered from somewhere else and upon checking my account it appears to have been "upgraded" from the regular PC edition to the limited steelbox version.

Still don't think that's the same as the limited edition though probably just a fancy case like STALKER got in the end .

Yeah it's just the 'normal edition' in a steel case which is apparently for a limited time and is not the collectors edition. I haven't actually seen anywhere to buy the game with a normal DVD case either.

I got mine from the rainforest, so I think 24th for me, either way, its a bargin, limited edition for the price of standard edition :)

Mine was 25 quid and it says:

Bioshock - Limited Edition [Tin Case] (PC)

That must mean it's the limited edition one? Unless its false advertising?

Its not the one with the big daddy and stuff, its just got a tin case, no bonus stuff or anything.

I know, still would have thought the Limited Edition would have been more than standard, the Tin Case will come in usefull for storing bits and bobs around my room.

He's right you know. Just done some diggin and the Limited Edition is just a steel case. The one with the Big Daddy figurime is called either the Collectors Edition or Special Edition depending where you look, and comes in a much bigger square steel box.

So if you really want the figurine, soundtrack, making of DVD etc, you'll need to cancel those LE preorders. What makes it extra confusing is that 2K are referring to the edition with the figurine as the 'limited edition' I hope a lot of people don't buy the LE expecting the figurine.

2nd post in this thread lists two retailers who are selling the CE/SE in the UK-

I could never get into DX, despite trying quite a few times. It just didn't grab me like SS2 did.

Shame really...It does look like it's an amazing game if you can get past the initial "my god I'm bored/this interface sucks" thing. Not that SS2 didn't have it's faults, of course.

downloaded a demo of SS2 just recently and only got as far as the main menu. Tried to start game and it crashed. Tried different compatibility modes but nada. And not really willing to go through loads of drivers searching for the solution.

Did SS2 ever come out on budget for xp?

It sure did...in Australia ;) It's not too hard to get hold of and get it delivered to the UK though. You can often find it on eBay for not too much cash too. I'd check out the FAQ on ttlg.com.

I know a lot of people that've had problems installing it/getting it to run. Personally I've had very few problems on many, many OS installs from Win98 right through to XP SP2 (apparently it's not too bad on Vista either). I've never ever had to use compatibility mode.

Thing to do is to:

Install game (-lgntforce sometimes needed as a commandline)
Install official 2.3 patch
Make "mod-ready" (guide available in FAQ or on SHTUP website)
Install SHTUP (not necessary but does nicely boost graphics whilst maintaing very close to original style)
Install Rebirth Complemented (new models - some would argue to not use this on a first play through... Tis up to you. They're not as scary as the originals to some, but they do look a LOT nicer)
Install the patched .EXE (note: Not a no-CD crack, but patched to avoid multiprocessor problems and other problems)
Add "safe_texture_manager" command to the cam.cfg file
Run the game.

You could in theory only have to do the first two steps in all that, but I like to have upgraded graphics and such ;)

Nearly everything you need is available on Strange Bedfellows. I'd ask on the TTLG Forums if you need any help. Beware though, there are many on there that aren't very noob-friendly.
