Another DX 10 feature i noticed is the smoke at the start. Now i havnt tested DX 9 yet so dont know if the smoke effect is in DX 9 but the smoke in this screenie i took looks like DX 10 to me. This screenie doesnt do it justice tbh. Water looks lush aswell

Anyone have any test runs / benchies. Woud be intresting to see how the 2900xt fares against the 8800's in the first DX10 tittle.

Your local newsgroup server will probably have it at a decent speed, most ISP's also have a newsgroup server (e.g. Virgin Media have a newsgroup server). They vary in quality though, and you have to do a fair amount of learning how to use newsgroups.

Just checked mine and none of the files are there yet.
No idea how long it takes Zen to update its servers.

That depends on your definition of fairly well, its uploading fairly well for Usenet. Which IS all day. Good thing is when its all up, you can max out your download. The one I'm looking at is going up at around 400MB/hr, over 1GB is already up.

They seem to be some 24hours behind, I tried to get it from there also. The link + the Gigaget client on the previous or 2 pages seems to be 100% the way to go. It's offcialy released at midnight so will proberly be on every mirror by morning if you can wait.

Anyway back to the demo;

The IQ is a ton better over the 360 version
It's smoother, with everything maxed @ 1680x1050 I got anything between 50-150fps. It went up into the hundreds quite a bit of the time.
No frame rate hitches
Without VSYNC the tearing is extreme
One of the best running games to be released for the PC in a long time and a breath of fresh air.

I think the rest of the industry needs to sit down and ask themselves why the hell there are not more games like this.

Hitting it changes the texture and makes it visable though.

Too right. I just bought my brother up to my pc to see this demo and he was impressed.

I love the big room at the end just before you get sent to medical. Its amazing you shoot them with fire and they jump into the pool in the middle !

The one I'm looking at is only few hours old and going up at 400MB/hr. I've sat waiting many a time watching similar ul speeds. Sure files can upload at 500Kbps, but the file servers take awhile to propagate and uploaders may have more than one file going. Take a look at the file logs on the servers, some sets can take an age to complete. This one will be about 5 hours if it holds. Thats an eternity if you ask me.

in a nearly 50 page thread I'll think I'll give that a miss then, what was your opinion, was there much difference ?

edit - 8 minuites to go woooo hoooooo, no 7 now, wait 8, no 7...............

The difference is 1fps between DX9 and DX10 in Bioshock with the non "bioshock" nvidia drivers on a 8800GTS

Im going to re run through the demo and do a Fraps benchmark so we can get an idea of MIN, MAX AVG fps.
