I've looked everywhere and I don't see anywhere mentioning it about it been banned!

Specifically

Why are you being such a ********* about this

Yes I used the word

What the **** are you on about? I wanted to know where it was in the rules so I didn't ******* use it!

Well just ask a mod then
If its not good enough for us to tell you its banned for some reason you need a full 200 page essay on when and how and why etc

Jesus what is it with some people, it self censors anyway so no problem with using it as long as you type it properly

I didn't want a 200-page essay all I wanted is for someone to link to where it says it's banned. If it's not in the rules, then how can it be banned?

Like I said ask a mod, thats what your supposed to do if you have a moderation issue

Maybe you just don't pay attention, its been banned for like 6 years now

i wouldn't get so worked up about it, i took the user to be saying it was plenty of jest.

Does anyone watch the thunderf00t videos on Elon? I don't doubt the guy is very smart but he seems to be a walking disaster. Metaverse looks better than this purchase.

He is Musk obsessed. Shame really as his channel used to be ok but clearly the algorithm shows him anti Musk videos bring in the money and so he's embraced them.

Welp.

Angelo Carusone on the twitters said:
1/ There is some pretty substantial context about Twitter's 2023 revenue and advertisers that I think partly help explains why Musk is really losing it...

And it involves upfront ad sales. Let me explain...

2/ Back Twitter (like a lot of digital companies) participates in an event called new fronts. At this event, they sell large chunks of ads for the following year.

Typically, Twitter sells like ~600-900M in ads at new fronts. That's guaranteed revenue for following year.

3/ This year, they didn't sell much of anything.

A coalition called Stop The Deal spent time educating and using media buyers and big advertisers at the event to ask Twitter some basic questions about potential Musk takeover before giving him a guaranteed income for 2023.

4/ Media buyers did ask those questions. Twitter had zero answers or assurances, the presentation imploded and ended shockingly early. Twitter from what I understand basically sold almost nothing and locked in extremely little 2023 revenue.

5/ This means that instead of heading into 2023 with 15-20% of 2023 already secured as they typically would have, Twitter heads into next year with almost none of that. All because of Musk's red pilled edgelord approach.

6/ @elonmusk has had months to address these concerns or even learn about them. But instead, he's insisted on antagonizing the very businesses and people that sustain Twitter.

Back in May, the groups and companies weren't calling for a boycott, they were asking basic questions.

7/ My point here is: It's actually worse than that I think a lot of people even appreciate all because Musk's conduct and commitments to roll back brand safety and community safeguards essentially obliterated Twitter's new front sales event that woulda secured 2023 revenue.

Who knew that scaring the **** out of advertisers would lead to a loss of ad revenue...nice going Elon :D

very interesting. thanks for sharing that.

shame it wont put a stop to those who are struggling with the reality that this is caused entirely by elon, so want to blame others for his failures, but it sure does shed some light on how long advertising on twitter has been an issue due to elons upcoming purchase.

what's more interesting, is that it seems more stupid of elon to have spent whatever time he did, fighting the purchase of twitter, to then realise he's going to have to at the last minute. in that time he should have been preparing to take over, and what he will do once he does.

the ideas he's publicly sharing as he thinks them, these are ideas that should have been explored before he even put in an offer surely.

This is perhaps why you don't just take tweets at face value simply because they're made by a blue checkmark account:

Seems firing half the workforce without 60 days notice in California is a no no and will leave Twitter on the hook for $500 fine a day per person + still have to pay their salary + still have to give them medical benefits. He would have been better off giving them 60 days notice and getting 60 days work out of them. Its not like he hasn't closed California offices before, he will know this and so will Twitter lawyers.
[blue checkmark tweet]

Wouldn't he just stick them on gardening leave in that case? I mean that's sometimes the approach in the UK... fire them but technically it doesn't kick in until the end of the required notice period.

Yep, in IT you don't usually work your notice and are placed on gardening leave because of security.

Of course, gardening leave is pretty standard and would seem to be the obvious move here and sure enough:

Nope. Yours are extraordinarily easy to fit into a box. You like to think they are not, but it is very transparent how you actually feel about everything.

Sure Jono8, but if that were the case you'd not have to keep on making up claims on my behalf, it's something you really do seem to struggle with.

e:they have a years wages

Don't the great & the good use AD/content blockers on twitter anyway, pre-requisite for any social media app (youtube etc.), avoiding nso/Pegasus infection, too.

Are conversion rates on twitter such that AD agencies will genuinely pay a premium, google is just as capable of identifying users market segments.

This is going to be glorious to watch. Come on Elon go thermonuclear on your advertisers.
Grab your popcorn people

Oh lord this is great.

The thing is, Elon writing that tweet will only worsen the problem. It's like a self fulfilling prochecy.

Advertisers leave because they don't like Elon's direction. Elon publicly announces he will go thermo nuclear on them if they leave. More advertisers don't like this and leave. Elon blames activists and tries to create division.

And what's so crazy about this, isn't that guy who tweets Elon, essentially saying, "let's be activists together and cancel companies just because they arent advertising in twitter for a possibly short while"

Oh the irony of dowie telling us to not trust checkmarked accounts as he takes at face value a checkmarked account. All hail King Elon!

Yep. It's like he takes at face value that moderation at twitter hasn't changed, while half the staff moderating have gone.

While all HR have gone. While all board members gone.

But don't worry, Elon told us so it must be true, just like Elon's conspiracy theory junk the other week, or Elon saying he did want to buy twitter, then didn't, but dowie secretly knew Elon wanted to buy twitter all along, Elon just took it to court for the lolz

You can see why Gwynne Shotwell is the business face of SpaceX, she deals with clients. You'd think someone would take him aside and tell him to get someone like her in asap and to stop tweeting until he has it sorted. He's throwing petrol on the fire day after day and wondering why its all burning down

At least apply some critical thinking and look at the context here - a lawyer touting for business/publicity/status who doesn't actually know the details but posits a what-if... you accept it as fact and then throw it in here... even though it doesn't seem plausible and you seem to be unaware of what gardening leave or severance pay is.

Vs the actual CEO, privy to the details, making a statement that they've offered 90 days severance.

Are you really unable to asses which seems more plausible?
