The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

Lol.

Is that the best attempt you have to play the victim? Team Elon are such (frozen water that falls from the sky and turns into flakes)

It's true, out of all the evil that is occurring around us every day this is what they choose to concentrate on?

They have an agenda and you are too blind to see, or you choose to accept it like a sheep.

Lol

Going by BBC, its 4th on most popular, a category theta decided by which viewers click on most. 3rd is a story about the Netflix series the Crown! Didn't someone tell them that twitter and Elon is the agenda to pushing

Why don't you make a thread about the media trying to push their agenda and see how many people share your views on this. You will find it comforting I'm sure, as right now the media are scaring you with their pushed agenda. Evil media.

At least apply some critical thinking and look at the context here - a lawyer touting for business/publicity/status who doesn't actually know the details but posits a what-if... you accept it as fact and then throw it in here... even though it doesn't seem plausible and you seem to be unaware of what gardening leave or severance pay is.

Vs the actual CEO, privy to the details, making a statement that they've offered 90 days severance.

Are you really unable to asses which seems more plausible?

So you ignore all the sacked staff who say they were very often sacked by their laptop being remotely wiped while using it. Who was the poster on here who said their friend was sacked in a similar a way?

You really are a sucker for Musk. I mean why would he have any reason to not be 100% truthful as he faces a PR nightmare? He is famous for how badly he treats his workforce. I just find it funny that you have the cheek to tell others they shouldn't take other checkmarked accounts at face value while you do exactly that with Musk who is a troll and has huge amounts of skin in this game. Step off your high horse dowie, you are embarrassing yourself again.

Jesus what is it with some people, it self censors anyway so no problem with using it as long as you type it properly
You mean as long as you don't try to circumvent the swear filter, that AFAIK is the actual rule that's been broken by splitting the word.

IMO it would be nice if the forum could self-moderate but it seems some people find gentle reminders of things they not be aware of worth arguing over rather than the actual point they were making. :)

Where have I ignored that? Do you honestly not understand how gardening leave/severance works? You effectively can instantly get rid of people it's just you pay them for the notice period they'd otherwise have to work, it's not that hard to follow surely?

How does removing access to e-mails/laptops negate that? That can literally be the way people find out - turn up at say a bank's office and your pass doesn't work, that doesn't mean you won't get severance/gardening leave!

No, I'm just pointing out the obvious - you don't seem to be aware of gardening leave, a blue checkmark lawyer not in possession of the facts and positing a "what if" scenario on twitter != this actually is what happened, the literal CEO of the company is more likely to know! Just apply some common sense at least!

From an operations/system admin perspective for enterprise level IT infrastructure its a truely suicidal idea to get rid of half your staff in one go.

Its only a matter of time before they have outages they will struggle to resolve as the knowledge has left the building and the people who are still there don't give a damn.

Anyone who still works there thats talented will already be looking for another job.

Elon is a real life bond villian isn't he? All is missing is his companies remote control all the cars running over people on the ground and his satellites to have killer lasers, using Twitter to brain wash everyone.

He can literally (or within his powers) to put all that into action.

He's talking about cancelling and name and shaming advertisers that don't agree with him, and his followers are begging him to do it so that they can join in and help cancel these companies.

Isn't the £7 blue tick starting this Monday or has it been delayed? The numbers from that are going to be devistating.

Yes, but isn't the idea that this is part of a restructuring, resulting in far fewer non-technical managers that are deemed non-essential to the maintenance of the platform?

Their agenda is to make money and Elon twitter stories do that. Why wouldn't they?

You don't know that they have all been put on gardening leave. You are taking his word that that is the case, a man with history of treating staff like ****, a man who has been sued multiple times for treating staff like ****. A man who sacked the board and is trying to avoid paying them what they are contractually due.

No you are attempting to make your opinion look like its the obvious truth. Sorry you don't get to decide on that. And stop making out its all about that lawyer who was pointing out California law. Its only her word against Elon's in your head.

Well, who else's word are you taking on this?

Elon claims they've been offered 90 days severance (I assume this is in relation to the California employees who are entitled to 60).

You've posted a lawyer's tweet, someone who is positing a "what if" rather than actually making a positive claim that they've definitely not been paid severance.

Is there anything else to go on? It seems like you've made a bad argument based on the lawyer's tweet but if there is something more why not post it?

And why do twitter stories make money, it's because people are interested in them, especially one developing so publically.

Just read about how Elon has put so much of his Tesla stock up to be able to purchase twitter.

If Tesla stock drops, Elon needs to put up more to the banks.

And there's drops in Tesla stock price right after some of Elon's tweets. Not massive drops but small notable ones.

But the biggest thing that's interesting about this.

Rival companies of Tesla that advertise on twitter, will of course want to see twitter fail given Tesla is now attached to twitter.

So they pull all advertising, get their friends to do the same and tank twitter which will indirectly reduce tesla stock price.

It's fascinating, because I see all this ridiculing and laughing at Elon as a bit of Meltdown by people.. Revelling to this degree is bizarre, my opinion is Twitter has always been a bit too ideological and cancel culture runs rife through it, and I don't feel any real emotion at all about the obviousness of advertisers pulling out.

I am not a Musk fan either, I think he's a fraud, but I don't feel that emotional about that either, I know he's extremely rich and whilst I might not like his approach, I know to be not so naive as to think so superficially about it and just wait and see.

We don't know enough yet about the layoffs.. If he's broken employment laws, great, sue him, he's rich and people can have a payday.. There is a process for that.

And he's only laying off 3000 or so max isn't he? Disney laid off 32,000 back in 2020 (https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/dec/02/walt-disney-layoffs-workers-struggle) for obvious reasons.. no one batted an eyelid then, it seems the only reason people care now (especially without knowing all the facts yet) would be their emotional fragillity has once again been triggered by the usual media circus pulling their strings.

The vast majority will pay, they need their little dopamine hits, the ones threatening (lol) to leave twitter will be exactly like those celebs that said they would leave the country should trump get elected, all bluff and bluster.
