The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

The conversation was about the length of bans.

I'd still ban people. Just not permanently.

This was a normal opinion a couple of decades ago.

Now people want to destroy others forever.

I know it was about length.

I'm just interested since in those cases they tend to be permanent.

Personally I think you should be given warnings and maybe suspensions, but a ban should be a ban, it should be the last resort to a situation where one party basically cannot be trusted and at that point no one should forced to put up with them.

Its a bit like with match fixing. Do you ban people for a game or two (suspension) or permanently.
Being relevant to now, what about people that sold their votes in voting for Qatar to host the world cup, would you let them back on the panel in future or say, no chance we can risk this happening again.

Why did you boycott it then?
Just answer the questions put to you. This isn’t difficult, I’m not trying to catch you out. I’m generally interested.

To remind you, questions are:
How is this advert a bad thing for preventing sexual harassment and bullying?
Why did you boycott razors because of it?
I’ll add another question, what was the ad about then if it wasn’t about what it seemed to be about?

“Little notion out of your head”. If that isn’t belittling and baiting I don’t know what is. Pot kettle black.

Try again without the belittlement and baiting I might take you seriously. Otherwise this conversation is done.

Again, there wasn’t any.

Maybe you don't see yourself but you seem to assume anyone taking exception to the ad is part of the problem and treating them accordingly - which is part of the underlying reason why the ad is not helpful.

Sorry, but how did that answer any question I or Tony asked you?
I also don’t think that. I do think that by being silent on things CAN make you part of the problem but I’m not saying that’s the case here.

Why can’t you answer the questions? They are asked in good faith. We’ve had this exact exchange again where you made a statement (“most dried pastas in supermarkets aren’t vegan”) which I claimed wasn’t true and you talked around it without actually giving any evidence or proper responses. You’re doing it again. Why?

I’ll try again…
How is this advert a bad thing for preventing sexual harassment and bullying?/what is the underlying reason? Not part, not a bit, but the underlying reason.
Why did you boycott razors because of it?
I’ll add another question, what was the ad about then if it wasn’t about what it seemed to be about?

Exactly, I queried someone's claim yesterday in relation to this and it prompted some rant about anti-woke bigots when it was simply in relation to another claim another poster had made in here. All these topics seem to "trigger" people so to speak.

We've already had the nonsense claims about Elon, stuff like he's lied about his degrees or he hasn't really created any companies or trying to claim he's not a cofounder of Tesla etc. People are so desperate to criticise him that they will believe any half-baked article or tweet and use it as ammunition in some rant/attack and carry on even after it's been pointed out they've got basic facts completely wrong.
