The ongoing Elon Twitter saga: "insert demographic" melts down

I’ll be honest. If dowie replies to a post of mine and it’s more than a couple of sentences, I don’t even bother reading it. Saves me the time of another circular argument with someone who will deflect and obfuscate until you can’t even remember what the original point was anymore.

You might as well be talking about yourself there... I mean I get you guys like to obsess over me but the thread is supposed to be the Elon thread not the Dowie thread, perhaps you could post about him going forwards so it's back on topic?

Incidentally, the news report I saw about Grimes stalker (who I will say again, does sound really unhinged) said that the suspect they are investigating is one of Elon's security team.

A new statement from local police provides the first official account of what happened during the incident. The South Pasadena police department has confirmed that an incident involving two vehicles was reported to the police on Tuesday night, but said that a member of Elon Musk’s security team is currently a suspect in the investigation, not a victim.

I'm sure it'll come to nothing and they can say they were doing their job, but it does still mean Elon's Musks side of the story doesn't ring 100% true.

While he said he'll step down as ceo he did say he would remain in charge of the software and servers which is basically the entire platform is it not?
I would assume that just means bringing the right people into work on the engineering/new features side of things, I would say he's pretty good at that given SpaceX/Tesla's success.

Looks like it is sort of option 1:

I wonder how he's going to handle the poll result?

Elon steps down... but it's going to be in X weeks/months when he was planning to anyway?

Elon appoints a new CEO but stays on as a part-time Chairman, CEO reports to him and he carries on meddling?

I guess Tom from myspace is still enjoying whatever remains of his $580 million pay out... stress-free, just relaxing and staying in his lane. :D

The fact Elon is staying on as some form of exec kinda undermines any new CEO anyway like ultimately Elon has that big chunk of equity and whether or not he is officially appointed as a Chairman he's presumably still going to be a board member and even regardless of that he'll still control most of the rest of the board seats so can basically still sack the CEO anyway?

My presumption is that he will be too busy else where to have the massive negative impact he has had since he became ceo.

No doubt, there will be dumb additions that he forces the CEO to take, but there is at least now someone in between him and the twitter employees, someone to dampen his ideas etc.

It's a win win surely for most. Those who love Elon still have him active. Those who laugh at him still will get plenty moments, however now with less disruption to twitter.

I also can't see the new ceo deciding policy by polls.

I mean, not really since he's said he's going to make himself head of servers and software engineering or something. So basically whichever stooge gets to be CEO is in charge of rebuilding all the departments that Elon fired that, turns out, were probably necessary all along. Unless of course the new CEO makes a real power play and fires Musk, which I think we can all agree would be the funniest option available in terms of generating delicious drama.
