Just been catching up with this thread, amazing how a US based social media platform's operation can so disturb lives over here that there's probably justification for a Valium prescription in some poster's cases :)
Love it.

The other week with the new ceo announced, the right lose their minds.

This week, with the Desantis mess up, every is laughing and enjoying the fun, and it's then that Chris needs to tell people they have a problem.

Funny how that happens.

Unless it has just changed Chris doesn't use twitter so his ability to comment with any actual knowledge is only slightly higher than C Kent in regards ROP which he confirmed he never watched.

Not crying fella, laughing.
Laughing at the absurdity of it.
What is with this new coping thing that some people do, where they see people laughing, and then pretend they are crying? And then go back to that person laughing and tell them they are crying? It's not like they just tell themselves and friends "oh those people over there are crying", they actually tell the lie back to the people that know it's not a lie.

It's something I've not seen before until the last 12 months or so. I find it really strange, because to admit their coping mechanisms out loud is just silly. It's like you get bullied at school and beat up. To cope you might tell your friends that you actually won the fight etc, but imagine going back to their bully that beat you, and tell them they you're the one that beat them. Makes zero sense.

Any way, I'm off on a tangent here

Elons happy he knew it was going to blow up and anything more than 10 seconds was a bonus
"massive attention for me which I desperately need"

Who'd have thought a year ago today, that you'd have the owner of twitter so desperate for clicks that he doesn't mind if the presidential run of Desantis gets off to a bad start, as long as it leads to clicks for Elon.

Before twitter could get clicks for being a site people used for positive things, now it does short term tactics to get attention from the users that are leaving.

And it is a short term boost that long term will just harm the brand. Poor performance gets Elon clicks now, but what next candidate wants to repeat that? They will be far less likely and long term, Elon won't be able to get anyone to do that again.

Listening to the Twitter space from last night, it's nice, it's basically a podcast.

Yeah sounds like no other podcast I've ever listened to. Man those technical wizards at Twitter are really taking it to the next level. Next you'll be telling us that it was because 1m people were trying to listen in. Twitch can handle multiple million person streams, Twitter can't even do 500k.

To be fair, I suspect at one point Twitter could have managed it, or there was the ability to get it to do so.

But that ship probably sailed when Musk sacked 80% of the staff and started shutting down server facilities to save costs, reducing the capacity to spread the load across multiple locations, and getting rid of the people that would likely have known and been able to test in a simulated environment in advance.

Musk fanbois: 'I'm so glad Elon bought Twitter, the man is a genius! It'll run even better than before now, just watch!'

Musk [flailing helplessly as he struggles to host a simple livestream]: 'Damn it, how do I get this bloody thing to work?'

An increasingly obvious situation in the video-sharing market is that YouTube is simply insurmountable so not like it matters anyway.

Yeah.

Though Twitch seems to do alright for streaming, and Insta reels do for short form stuff. DailyMotion and Vimeo somehow survive.

Oh, and then there's Pornhub of course
