No, because of WHY they deemed such a platform unsuitable for advertising their services or products. Nothing to do with the personality of Musk, all to do with the political and idealogical alignment of some ex, or claimed to be forthcoming ex, advertisers.

Like many condemn The Daily Mail, or The Sun or The Daily Express for their political alignment or whatever <insert perceived bias>, I condemn some advertisers for theirs and buy accordingly.

So TLDR you still don't get how twitter works and how the advertisers don't control who sees their content nor what their content could be displayed alongside, unlike in traditional media.
The advertisers rely on a platform thats under control, as we have been over and over, right now no one sane can argue that.

It would be the equivalent of Wilson motors requesting an advertising campaign and then finding all your adverts had all been placed in "woke recycling monthly" magazine whos' clientele are known ICE haters!

We all have our crosses to bear, I hate all the multiculturalism on TV and in the media that surreptitiously destroys a nations identity. But they keep ramming it down people's throats.

At least with the advertisers leaving Twitter I can research those that want to dissasociate themselves on a political basis and in turn avoid their products.
Did you just turn an anti-gambling advertisement into a "but immigrants" post? lol! You must be on the final months....

Advertisers want to control where their adverts are shown for a couple of very simple reasons.
One is to try and make sure they hit the right eyes, it's a waste to have an advert for booze shown to under 21's when they can't legally buy it, or it's an waste to show products for the over 60's to under 30's.
The other is they don't want their content associated with stuff that goes against their brand image, Coke Cola which has been "woke" since at least the early 70's isn't going to want it's expensive adverts next to someone calling for the hanging of people of a different skin colour.

It's the exact reason why TV channels tend to split their advertising slots up and why for example a slot during Coronation Street will get some very high paid adverts for one thing, whilst a slot during the football will get highly paid adverts for another, but something shown at 3am on Bravo would likely get a generic low value advert.

Advertisers don't control the the likes of the TV channels or Twitter, but if your business model involves getting money from those advertisers you really need to have a plan on how to deal with them, and how to maximise that income if you want them to hang around. I'm surprised some people have an issue with this, given it's pure capitalism and surely if something is that popular the advertisers will have no issue being associated with it.

Yeah, but the capitalism snark works best with Russian.

***edit***

Meanwhile, things going brilliantly on the 'child safety' end of things with Twitter these days.

:(

It's things like this that are breaking all over the place he still has 100s of devs working but their sole focus is keeping the patch work front end going so people can still go hurr durr he fired all those staff and Twitter still works

The appearance of the images on Twitter was striking because they had been previously flagged as child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, and were part of databases companies can use to screen content posted to their platforms, the researchers said. “This is one of the most basic things you can do to prevent CSAM online, and it did not seem to be working,” Thiel said

"Under control". Absolutely chilling.

Who decides what things should be controlled? Sounds to me like it's advertiser's and investors calling the shots through financial pressure.

Welcome to capitalism. Where the market decides what products work and don't work. Twitter and its users are a product, the advertisers are the client. If you want their money, you need to supply a product they want to buy.

Ah Elon must really miss his interaction with that woman who campaigned on Twitter, the one who said she was abused and sex trafficked. Shame it all turned out to be a bunch of lies and she disappeared as the truth came out.

Haha i remember her, everything about her screamed total grifter and yet legions of dunces fell for it.

I don't know what it is with right-wing Americans and their complete inability to spot blatant grifting, fascinates me.
