And I can see no way that that could be gamed to raise stock prices, not to mention at the rate tesla ramps up production that's probably 3-5 years off hitting todays orders (possibly longer depending on how high a percentage of them have to repeatedly get QC issues fixed using parts intended for cars that were meant to be rolling of the production line afterwards).

Yeah something like this. I think it was Mkbhd that made a good video explaining that this has pushed up the numbers artificially and that you can't trust them due to this.
I doubt it’ll ever be available in the UK due to its lack of airbags.

Firstly, if that is really Musk (please say we have proof), then that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard from an engineering point of view, so lets hope it's real, that would be a real doozy from him.
Secondly, nothing shown in the photos (which btw we have zero idea how they've been produced, could be fabricobbled prototypes for all we know) is of a scale that is even at normal automotive levels of tolerance, i.e. I'm going to assume that any panel he creates should be at least to normal tolerances he can easily achieve/hold on his other cars, so horrific alignment issues and parts that aren't actually attached at an interface leaving a gap are surely not final..
Musk is surely the biggest moron on the planet, but when people conflate things like this together, it's equally as moronic..
Who knows.. it's pure bandwagon jumping from a place of total ignorance at the moment.. can't people keep it in their pants long enough to just wait for the final product?

So it's a fact that he's thrown out all the automotive design norms he's learnt to his current builds of Tesla's and has a bunch of student welders that have fabricobbled some chassis from tin cans that will buckle through temperature variations?

Musk is one of those narcisstic types that thinks he knows better, and always wants to try it his way and largely just end up re-learning all the lessons everyone has already previously learned and passed on to those that listen..
However, we've all seen his journey of bad design and poor quality from initial production to today and we now have enough data to know where Tesla sit..
I'd love to hear the same author of that piece above to comment on current Tesla's since no one really expected Tesla to progress as well as they have.. Look at Sandy Munroe's analysis.. he's also spotted some real naive design stuff, then seen the evolution to what he at one point this year led to his 'Tesla are unbeatable' comment.. and this is another tear down analyst that has a lot to compare against..
Whilst no one can count out that Musk literally has jumped backwards in time, it's weird to be approaching the cybertruck assuming he's not taken everything he's learnt/evolved on the rest of this platforms and carried it forward..

I think you only have to look at the thing and learn it's made of out steel to stand back and ponder the reasons why it's such a departure from any other vehicle made. It's possible it will be amazing and we're all just stuck in our ways, but I'm more erring on the side of it being a complete ****-show which will never amount to anything.

Also they had to calculate the probability of a rocket hitting a shark (spoiler alert, it's essentially 0).

So he cares about all the Earth's creatures does he? So why did he go ahead with the Starship/Super Heavy launch at Boca Chica without first installing the water deluge system they were having built? He was warned and likely knew the pad would be destroyed but he went ahead regardless, so showering the protected water flats with concreate and miles of the area downwind with pulverised concrete dust which is far from healthy for either humans or nature.
Not sure why you put a video of him on Lex Fridman as proof of anything. Elon doesn't exactly have problems with bending the truth when it suits him (I'm being very generous there) and Lex is often like listening to Neil from The Young Ones. "I just want everyone to get on and love each other guys". He wouldn't know an adversarial interview if it sat down and joined his guitar circle.

I think you've confused me with someone who cares about a bit of concrete dust on a beach. I'm happy they went ahead with the launch. Maybe you should launch a rocket and show them how it's done. By the way, finding a good launch spot on the East Coast of the US is next to impossible, that's why things like this happen. There just isn't miles of suitable space to build a space centre that isn't disturbing some form of wild life or is already occupied. Elon spoke about this as well.
No one has to prove anything to you and I certainly wasn't trying to. Lex Fridman doesn't have to challenge Elon Musk or conduct an adversarial interview, he has millions of viewers regardless.
