The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

I'd probably take the 146 CAB2E 0548, doubt there's much difference between them to be truthful, the 10x multi of the 146 always helps though.

Thanks, thats what I thought, someone else told me to go for the 144 CAB2E but there are kinda variable and have less multiplier, correct? Sorry, am very new to overclocking but the Opteron seems too good to miss!

Agreed, but it still jumps from mid teens to high 30s when that is a physical impossibility!

Thats pretty odd, mine is spot on. Grab me on msn and I'll send you my config file, could just be dodgy sensors on your board, try updating to the latest bios if you haven't already.

The only difference between the 146 and the 144 is that the 144 only has up to the 9x multi, the 146 has upto 10.

I'm sticking with the DFI confi file for mbm5, I messed about with the sensors and randomly selected something rather incorrect, was reading 435C! stupidly applied it and because I set mb5 to switch my system off if the cpu went over 65 it straight away shut down my pc. as soon as I reboot and mbm5 loaded up it shut down instantaneously! had to remove mbm5 in safe mode to solve that prob.
I'm sticking with the dfi config file it works, that good enough for me :)

Ok lads is it worth me paying around £180 for a 148 that can do 3Ghz prime stable. It has the IHS off and is a CABNE 0528.

Its that or get a SD 3700 and see how that OC.

? Not if you have a 146 doing 3Ghz as in your sig??

still seems a bit pricey to me.

See thats the thing ive just sold my opty for a decent price that done 3ghz. So ill be basically swaping this for a 148 or i could get a 3700 SD and keep around £30-£40.

too many choices

hi all,

just tried upping my opteron from 2.6, memory on 3/4 divider running at 185 - 2 3 3 5.

tried upping it to 2.7, left everything the same, it booted and got to the backing cmos....OK part but then just stopped and did nothing. Just wondering what could be the prob, lower divider and timings maybe? ta

andy

i seem to have hit a brick wall with this

set it at 270htt, lowered divier to 7/10 or something like that, upped ram volts to 2.70, and cpu to about 1.45. Got into windows, but superpi couldnt even do a 1mb test, lol

Maybe its my pooey value ram holding me back? or is it just the limits of my cabne 0545?

I would start at stock volts for cpu and work your way up slowly and run short runs of occt till it fails then raise volts a little then retest put the ram on the lowest divider to take that out the equation that will tell you what the cpu is capable of my geil value runs nice on a divider

cheers for the tip shads. done what you said, changed to a 133 divider (think that what its called), put cpu and ram volts up a bit, now on 2.8, very happy! :) just got to prime it now :p
Hey mate,

Can you let me know what kind of temps you get at 2.8 ;)

My Opty's (CABNE 0544) running at 2.6 atm; the only reason I stopped was because I was happy with the temps at that setup? 35c is the highest she's ever been, and that was after a very long CoD2 sesh

Thats with 1.425v through it? Memory at [email protected].

Cheers,

SW.

heres a graph of when i was running 30min stress test on occt:

temps.gif

i tried it yet at 2.8, but but the vcore is the same as when it was 2.7, so unless i fail the stress tests and have to up the volts, it should be the same :)
