The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Sorry too lazy, can you just post what HTT stands for? :p

I've had a good read of this thread now though, I'm interested to hear what peoples opinions on the best stepping is. Does anyone agree with me by saying that the CABYE is the best then CABNE and then CABGE? Also could someone summarise what the best bang for buck Opteron is the 144, 146 or 148, looks to me like it’s the 146?

...

Depends if you need a 10x divider if you're board can only hit low HTT - if so get the 146. I can't see any advantage in getting a 148 when the lower model numbers should overclock just as well.

144 opteron, GABYE 0536GPMW.
not prime stable as yet.
67% overclock on water :)

your temps are a little high for my liking and putting 1.7V through it, ouch!

i agree, temps somewhat high for me to,have to reset block a see,
1.66v not 1.7 thou, it been a few hours since putting this cpu in, need time to settle in

as i said,i need to re-set block,i also have 3700 san diego, clocked at 3gig and temps are no where near that. 3700,38 load, 144 48 load
GABYE stepping from what i've seen in most cases need about 1.7 to run 3 ghz.
1.7v on water is fine, would never turn out costly lol

can any of you chaps point me to a good overclocking Tutorial on the DFI boards, had this Cabbage upto 2450 before it wouldnt boot windows, I had my HTT upto 270 and all was fine, when I bumped to 280 it wouldnt boot Windows, and it gave me BSD's until I dropped to 250 then.

In the BIOS make sure the LDT multiplier is set to 3x, any higher and it will screw up at high HTT. Also, you may need to run a divider (if you're not already).

It could be a problem with the low dividers, I could never compleste POST at high HTT with a low divider, but that was with 2x1Gb of RAM.

Try bumping the LDT voltage, that might help iron out instability. Are you increasing Vcore as you push up the HTT too?
