The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

how easy are these to overclock on air?

i've never done anything with voltage before either, how safe is it?
if i get one of the good stepping batches, how far could you take it without changing the voltage?


sorry for the noobish questions :o

never had an A64 style CPU before, last time i overclocked an AMD was an old Duron :o

Not removed it yet, definately thinking about it though, don't want to kill my chip however.

Just been testing mine, it passes 32M SuperPi, no problems with S&M stability test but fails prime in 10 seconds flat.

I've never said it was prime stable, its completely game stable, SuperPi stable and S&M stable though, which is very odd as S&M is very tough to pass with any instability.

I've totally stable in everything but Prime at 1.65V, even at 1.7V prime is having none of it, tempted to just ignore it though.

I’ve got similar problems to the above, anything above 2.86GHz trips Prime 95 out pretty quick regardless of Vcore, and yet it flies through other tests inc S&M Gaming etc, I was almost tempted to leave mine with said errors; I started thinking it was memory controller or something tried loads of different settings, but as frustrating as it is I decided the difference between 2.86 and 3Ghz just isn’t worth it, so now I am aiming for the lowest Vcore around FX57 Speeds and Prime 95 stable, currently @ 1.47v @ 2.8GHz on Air think that will do me as I like a quiet system.

Guys I have heard some bad news bought the new DFI-Ultra Expert MOBO. I dont know if its true but I read on another forum that Europe won't be getting them and it might stay with USA only product!!!! WTF! Why is that when DFI have been crying out for an Asus double gap PCI-e slot for ages. Check the other thread anyway search "expert" in titles.
