The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Not for 'standard' memory it isn't ,for example I wouldn't want to push DDR400 Crucial over 2.8v.

but why does upping the voltage of memory effect the overclock of the CPU or it doesn't ?

when testing i lowered the memory right down just to see how far i can push the cpu.

ok I am Super pi stable a 2.5, I would give u a screenshot but I dont know how to stick it in a post!(yes i'm noob) although 2.5 stable is great, with you guys getting 3.0 cant help thinkin how to get more do I need more volts(currently 1.5). Also if I put the memory on 1T it wont boot into windows?????
Thanks guys!
assuming you've got it hosting on the internet (if not use something simple like http://www.imageshack.us - they'll even give you the code to use on the forums)

you type in

remove the *'s though :)

Dropped my 146 in before my gig tonight (Test Icicles at the LSE - was awesome, 'nother story) went straight for 280 x 10 in the bios, came up fine and left it running super-pi when I went out, came back and still running sweetly :D

Am very happy already, but am going to push her a little more now.

Any results on your CAB2E Minstadave?

More CAB2E goodness, thats all 3 of my opterons to 3Ghz now :D (CABYE 0536, CABYE 0540 and this CAB2E 0540.

cab2e7qv.jpg

Proper stability testing to follow, the voltage is set way too high just because I don't have time tonight to fiddle with lower volts.

@heskey82 - Yep and yep, using clockgen, 3004 / 300 / 200 running as I type this post. It's doing SuperPI it the background :D hopefully it'll be stable... fingers crossed!

Nice one Minstadave.

When you get time, can you post a breakdown of memory timings for your LE, using A64 Tweaker or something please :D

Sold the Gskill LE's now, currently running with some OCZ Plat Rev.2 TCCD totally untweaked, but thats only temporary, 2gig of Ballistix PC4000 will be on its way to me very shortly :)

OK, this is as far as my 144 CAB2E under water will go: (Large FFT, Small FFT, SuperPi and 3DMark '01 stable)

CAB2E.jpg

2.979Ghz @ 1.45 x 110% = 1.595v

9 x 331, 120 divider on memory (212.7Mhz)

Can't get the memory higher than that, although 3DMark is 300 points (-0.08%) slower when I drop the CPU by 36Mhz (-1.4%) and increase memory by 14 Mhz (+7%). SuperPi is exactly the same on either.

Thanks, it's not prime stable at 3Ghz, but looks like it will be at 2957, which is awesome on stock volts. Hitting 47oC under full load.

Btw this is on air (AC Freezer 64).
what stepping is it?
got a 146 CABYE 0540FPBW sitting on my desk, and a Freezer 64 Pro in the post :p
so i'm very interested as it's almost the same as what i'll be running
