The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

My mate nightic got 4 CPU's of that stepping and they all went straight in at 3ghz, mixed batch numbers... 3 ghz for this CPU stepping is common.

Best performing CPU he had was batch no. 5XX. :)

Aye, not finding any truth in the 'low batch number = better clocker' theory, for any A64s.

This is a remnant from the old XP days I think.

wow richdog, that would make sense, my 146 is 0564 and is prime stable 2.9ghz stock volts & 3ghz 1.45V yet a 148 exact same steppin but batch is 0169 and needs 1.5V for 2.85ghz & 1.6V for 3ghz

has anyone actually purchased a 144/146 in the past few days from ocuk? If so, how well are they doing as far as clockage goes?

I get good memory bandwidth too at 2.3.3.5 1T at 212mhz and I only have Geil Value!

Fireblade2K4, you get the same SuperPi as me, but your processor is 600mhz faster than mine???
Yeah I know, at the moment i'm having some issues with my RAM, it won't run dual channel and also i'm a total noob to overclocking, lol.

My RAM bandwidth also in Sandra is only about the 3000 mark, is this right for PC3200 running with a Opty 146 @ 2.5Ghz 250HTTx10, RAM is on a divider so running at 166Mhz 2.5-3-3-10 1T.

This is mine compaired to your as it is now.

I wouldn't mind knowing how the latest 146's from ocuk are clocking as well.

What is the stepping to look out for, if you want to get near 3ghz?

Right time for a new mobo, RAM and Gfx card I think :D :D

Mobo: DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D PCI-E (Socket 939)
RAM: GSkill 1Gb FF PC4800(DDR600) / PC4400(DDR550) DFI Special Dual Channel kit
Gfx: Sapphire ATI Radeon X800GTO² 256MB DDR3 TV-OUT/DVI (PCI-E) - Retail

Hopefully with that lot I might be able to push things a bit further. :)

Indeed, a lot of people over there have lost nice clocking CPU's - I haven't had a full read through so I have no idea why they are being killed

My conspiracy theory is that AMD don't want us using these Opteron's and got in touch with DFI (as they are the best o/c board atm) and told them to make sure the new boards killed as many CPU's as possible hehe :)

^ In no way was the above serious btw
