The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

eva2000 can you put your LE at 300FSB (tight timings say, 2.5-4-3-7) with no divider please, so 300*10 and compare this against BH5 running 300FSB with a divider as you have done previously. To be fair, TCCD shouldn't be used with a divider since it does such high FSBs with tight timings.
Well i've tried 18+ pairs of 2x512MB TCCD ram from Gskill, Centon and Patriot and only 2 pairs do >300mhz repeatable stably (2x 512MB Patriot PC3200XBL and 2x 512MB Gskill PC4400LE) and only 1 pair (2x 512MB Patriot PC3200XBL) does 309-312mhz upto 16M, or 305mhz 2.5-4-3-6 for 32M so no way of doing TCCD at 1:1 for speeds we're talking about here of 3102mhz to 3150mhz or 310-315mhz

I have 2x 512MB Gskill PC4800FF but only do semi stable 300mhz 2.5-4-3-6 1T and max clock is 301mhz

but for 3000mhz a compare is easy

on Opteron 146 these are the tightest i can go for respective memory

2x 512MB Gskill PC4400LE TCCD 431
@300mhz 2.5-4-3-7 8-18-2223

vs

2x 512MB Corsair XMS3500C2v1.1 BH-5
@250mhz 2-2-2-5 7-14-2222
superpi-32m_tn.jpg

vs

On FX-57 - This is unstable with 2x 512MB Gskill PC4400FF
@300mhz 2.5-3-3-7 8-16-2222 - unstable as it you can't run 32M repeatable more than once

Is anyone running an FPAW on a DFI with 2Gb of Corsair PC3200? Would much appreciate if you could give me your A64 Tweak settings for a stable 3Ghz =)

Cheers,

Suman

I'm running mine with a divider cos I dont want to shove big volts through em.....

But generally people don't use more than 2.9-3.0v through TCCD. Surely that not big volts? Little confused by this, as my LE loves high FSBs on 2.8v.

eva2000. Thanks for those benchmarks, interesting stuff. :D

1.5v reported or what it's set to in bios? If that runs the blend test in prime then that's damn impressive compared to mine. :)

It's set to 1.5v in the BIOS, but being reported as 1.488v in Smartfan. And yes, the 11 hour test I ran on Prime 95 was indeed the Blend test.

I am well impressed :D

The best I've had out of my 144 is 270mhz HTT, running at 1.53v according to mbm5. :(

Wonder if it's the board.....what have you upped any other voltages? (I've got the same as yourself)

Nope all other voltages are stock. Could it be your memory??? What memory are you using??? Try setting your memory to 100mhz and try upping the HTT. If you get better results, you can tighten the memory up later. I am using Geil PC3500 CAS2 Golden Dragon, and using the 120 divider is running at 211mhz. Possible your memory is out of spec as I had this myself on the 133 divider

Im running ballistix PC4000 and it's on a divider, so is running well within it's specs. Not sure what's going on to be honest.

To sum up the previous 44+ pages then,....................,,,,,,,,,,,,,...., Cabbages (CABGE) are the worst for overclocking.
Firstly, what has been the best result (on air) for the 146 Opty Cabbage ?
And secondly, what can you expect as a minimum out of a 146 Cabge ?
Are they worth gambling £100 or so on ??

I am heavily into my games and I need to spec a processor to suite.

The system I will be building (only a couple of bits still to buy) is:
DFI SLI-DR mobo
Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 64
Seasonic S12 600W PSU [eventually got my head around paying £100 for a PSU ];)
Ballistix PC4000 (2 X 512mb)
Thermaltake Tsunami Dream ALu case.

I am an overclocking noob so keep it simple guys ! :oP

Oh and yes I have read all of the pages in this thread and ,....Wow too much info to soak up !

has anyone noticed that everest ultimate edition reports a second core on the 146 chips (mine is CABYE 0540) it reports trhe second chip as "disabled by user" this can be found in computer - DMI - Processors. Underneath in the cache section it also reports two lots of 1024 cache

The important question is can it be enabled?!
