I need to get me one of these, but which 144 or 146  and from where All places I look are OOS? :(
And what if I end up with a Cabbage (CABGE)

for the money even a cabbage is worth it tbh , they arnt the best clockers but do clock ok and the 1mb cache compared to the 512 on other cpus in the same price band.

146's appear to be the best clockers at the mo.

I was just about to reply, saying that the 148 would probably be the perfect chip for you. Until I read to the bottom of your post and realised you've already ordered one!

You have a good chance of getting a CABYE stepping, which should clock extremely well (~3Ghz). Other than that, you should still be able to get around 2.8Ghz, which is FX57 speeds anyway.

i had a asus AV8 Deluxe wireless edition for 3days and think youll struggle getting near 3ghz with it, i couldnt get over 230htt no matter what settings or volts i put through it which is why i took the plunge and went to pci-e ;)
the 148's aint bad clockers, i had high hopes for mine but only hit 3ghz with 1.65V so could only run 2.8ghz 24/7 which is still fx57 but cant compete with the 146 ;)

At that place they said 10 days... I have it 5 days later... all out of stock now, the new stocks will prob be cabbages.

2.7ghz on stock volts... not trying any higher until I get my SI-120.

But fx 57 speeds is still fantastic for the price and gives you a massive price saving on the fx 57

My 146 Opteron arrived this week, stepping CABYE 0540 FPMW #215

OCCT stable 2.9GHz @ 1.4v
OCCT stable 3.0GHz @ 1.425v

More results to follow when I have the time, very happy with this chip :D

I keep seeing this OCCT mentioned. Are people using this instead of prime nowadays?

Cheers Dave :)

OCCT is getting more popular. I use it to see if a chip is semi stable, as it completes in 30 minutes. If it is, I usually push harder until it fails, then back off a bit and try a different benchmark like Prime95 (SP2004). It's a good idea to use more than one app.

Just to update you guys, i really didnt fancy playing about with my system when i thought i broke my 146. I've just started playing about with it again and with a bit of persuasion and swapping the memory modules between DIMM slots i've got my 146 working again!

This is the 146 CABYE that does 15hours of SP2004 at 3Ghz :D
I'll get some screens up soon.

And just a quick note, i'm selling my 144 CAB2E does 2.8Ghz fully and i mean fully stable, none of this 32M SuperPi only stable. I'm talking 9+ hours of SP2004, 30min OCCT and S&M tests. So get your ass to the members market for first dibs!
