Highest ive got so far. Although i heard nforce3 doesnt go much above 300HTT?

Havent really messed around or tweaked anything. just wacked the voltage up :D

Thats a lot of volts! My 144 only needed 1.55v to be SP2004 stable at 2.8Ghz.

Hey <madness> do you have any pics you could post about taking the Shim of the CPU, i'd really like to see how AMD fitted it and how hard it is to take off. I can understand that temps can drop but i'm not convinced its such a good idea to take it off as it supports the heatsink so the core doesnt get damaged - otherwise AMD wouldnt of put it on surely?

Or does anyone have any links to someone whose done this?

hey, the cpu is in the system now, like i said earlier on, i made a custom shim to stop any chipping. there is a thread on XS showing the removal of the shim, one important factor is that make sure you dont cut too deep into the silicone, about 3-4mm maximum as you dont want to knock off any resistors on the cpu around the core. there are plenty of cpus that dont have the sink.

eg, amd xp series, the Pentium M series. i wouldnt normally remove the plate, but clearly the shim wasnt making a good contact with the core. now it is running better than ever :)

good luck.

My opteron came today its a :

CABYE 0540 FPAW Is this ok? Reading this thread it seems to be :)

How do you find out the batch number?

Thanks

Should clock to 3GHz without many problems. Batch number is the last 4 digits at the end of the bottom line on the heatspreader.

Each chip is different of course, it's never a sure thing. But most of the 146 CABYE FPAW/BW/MW seem to do 3GHz on lowish volts. My MW is will boot in window at 1.425v but need 1.45v to be stable.

Ok, I've downloaded a new bios for the ultra-d, 704-2BTA as I've seen a couple of people on here using it. I still can't push the CPU any higher than 270x9, nor can I get the ballistix to run either at 1:1 or at 10:9 with tigher timings than 3,3,3,7. I've tried putting 2.9v through the RAM, rounds to about 2.94v. I'm starting to wonder if there's some magic setting somewhere that I'm missing.

If it was just the chip I'd get a new one, but the RAM is confusing me.

Any bright ideas?

Cheers
:)

Just got my 146 and its a CABYE,

Info on processor is,

OSA146DAA5BN
CABYE 0540FPMW
1341189J50513.

Will be running on my Asus A8V Deluxe with 1gb geil value RAM, if anyone has any advice on RAM timings/htt speeds for this setup it would be appreciated.

Cheers Tucks.

Also i will be running it on my new Zalman 9500.

Don't even try to run 1:1, it's not worth it. Run with a divider and tighter timings.

So your saying in his case 270fsb 1:1 with the ram running at slightly slack timings would be out performed with the ram on a divider running 200 and tight timings? I always found the reverse when benching my system. if I ran such hi ht it would always seem to out do low latencies after the 250 mark.

cheers
