The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Ok So I got my 146 CAB2E 0545 running in an Asrock Dual sata board ( Dont bother I Know btw, Its an interim board :) )

On stock volts cos you cant go past 1.45v without a volt mod and I cant be bothered with that with a new board coming in Jan/Feb I get 2.7Ghz.

Very pleased with that, Just using an Exos water cooling sys as well!!!

My 146 CABNE 0544 has hit 2.7 booted into XP, but fails prime95 after about 7 minutes. Will pass prime 95 for 6hours and 17 minutes at 2.63GHZ (1.4625V) [is this stable enough?].

Will boot happily at 2.5GHz at stock volts (and ran Prime95 for 3 hours OK).

Guess I got one of the new cabbages :(

Cheers

Yeah 6hrs prime is stable enough. Altho a lot will agree that 12hrs + is ideal. Im also using the
CABNE 0545 and its prime stable at 2.9Ghz with 1.53v.

My latest using the ASROCK Dual SATA2 board with the OCWBeta1 bios with a 146 CABYE 0540FPBW currently sitting pretty on stock HSF with an Arctic Freezer 64 Pro yet to be fitted is an amazing 3Ghz :D (for this budget board anyway) and only on 1.45v for what I paid I'm VERY happy indeed with it :D

Wow ive got exactly the same stepping but can only manage a stable 2.8ghz on stock volts and 2.9 @ 1.55 volts :( still quite good tho.

** not running dual channel ram?

what kinda temps are u getting with the stock hsf?

What decent priced hsf would people reccomend? I've got a CABNE 0545 and I'm hoping to get around 2.8ghz...any thoughts?

The Akasa Evo 33 does good job is keeping my 146 under 40C load, plus its venting the hot air straight out the back of the case which has brought temps down a degree or two.

Yep you need to get Dual channel ram working, unless you just have 1 stick of 1GB RAM. It'l gives you a decent boost, and the superpi 1m time will be about 29s :)

Guys I'm really confused and I have quite a few problems... bear with with me:

1) Neither CPU-Z nor Clockgen can read my memory clock when using the 140 divider... is this a bug? MemTest86 seems to think it's running 1:1 at 280Mhz (it's definately not!) Only 3DM'01 gets it right!
2) Related to this, it seems using the 140 divider automatically disables 1T for me and bandwidtch takes a massive hit (see Sandra). Is this a BIOS bug?
3) Apparently my memory is running at 194Mhz, but how is this possible?? 2800/194 = 14.43 and I thought A64 could only use integers as dividers... shouldn't it be using 2800/14 = 200Mhz?!

On idle I'm getting 35° and on load im getting 45°, for a stock HSF that is VERY good!

Might fit my Arctic Freezer 64 Pro later and see what effect that has but there is no immediate rush :D

*Currently in single channel mode due to a v3.2 and v4.2 stick of RAM, motherboard won't run it dual channel :(*

Sorry to go "slightly" offtopic but i got my opteron coming in and i was wondering is Phase cooling (ie Vapochill micro) is going to be better than just air cooling??. I already have my Artic Freezer 64 Pro ready but i could change my mind and get a Vapochill micro unit, if it going to be better? Anyone got a oc'uk opteron with Phase instead of air??

Cheers

Kesnel has, about 3.3-3.4Ghz he is getting, but u have to be lucky not to get one with the "cold bug". It is to do with a chip not behaving when at freezing temperatures.

Was reading this up and i don't think the micro unit gets down to freezing or sub temps but i am not 100% sure. I take it this means it probably better than air cooled espeically if your Overclocking????
