The Opteron Skt 939 Overclocking thread !!!!

Sigh, I ended up with a Hiper Type-R 580, now I need to decide on a case for that and my DFI LanParty SLi-D, any suggestions (not Akasa Eclipse too wide for computer desk). Need to order it in the next 2 hours so its here on Monday...

What's your budget? Add me on MSN if you have time now I have a few ideas for you. :)

I'm in at 3ghz too, i'll get some screenies and benchies later. Temps seem OK for air-cooling though higher than i'm used to, mid forties+. :)

Getting a 31s 1MB PI time lol... 2T and single-channel really blows.:(

EDIT - lol forgot to mention that on boot I forgot I was using a 10x multi so set the HTT to 320... was confused for a minute or two as to why it kept rebooting. :D

Youre running CL2... set it to CL2.5-3-3-7... 2 is way too low for the RAM if you want any stability at an overclock... especially at 1T.

Stick the RAM voltage to 2.9v too to make sure it has enough juice... what motherboard are you running?

wtf... all of a sudden my RAM is working in dual-channel in at 1T. tried it in orange slots out of curiousity and got a boot for the first time... which then hung before windows. So I change to yellow and voila... im typing here. Whether it does it every boot is another thing...

29S 1mp PI now... so will tighten RAM timings and see what I get...

Earmarked im afraid on the chance he sells a pair. ;)

I've already had a CPU and soon a PSU off of him... be rude not to take the RAM as well. :D

Oh and btw, now I have my RAM working in DC and 1T the performance increase at 3ghz has been amazing... I am seeing VERY significant performance increases in games as well as benchmarks. LOVING it... my aim now is to have 10*300 at 1:1. :)

Hmm something is really wrong here...

My rig fails OCCT after 2 mins yet is 100% heavy gaming stable, it runs Dawn of War with the Half-scale mod (basically 2x units on screen) for hours... and that is a REAL torture test for your CPU... it grinds your system to a halt, less than 12 fps sometimes.

Vcore is at 1.55 + 104%
LDT at 1.3v
Chipset at 1.6v

Now temps are pretty damn high on this thing (mid 50's under load reported, which seems about right for 3ghz, 1.6v on air) but I have a feeling it may be the PSU, as I haven't received my PCP&C yet to give it 100% stable juice.

We'll see in a few days I gues... but until then i'm not fussed. :)

Put:

CPU voltage to 1.55
LDT voltage to 1.3v
Chipset voltage to 1.6v
RAM voltage to 2.9v
Use a RAM divider to be sure too... set it to 150 or 166mhz memory speed.

AND MAKE SURE LDT MULTIPLIER IS AT 3x! If it's any higher you won't be stable at higher HTT.

Start at 9x280 HTT and work up from there in 10mhz incrememnts.

I guess the real question is what are the recent batches going to be like compared to the earlier ones.

Not being psychic we don't really know, but I would get a 146 for a better chance of getting a CABYE 0540.

Just got my Opteron 144 and the stepping is.....................

CABNE 0540BPMW

Is this a good one or not???

By the way it came from Overclockers.

Not too good i'm afraid... bit like a CABGE.
