*** The OS X Lion Thread ***

Getting used to OS X now, but I cannot understand how people still use iTunes? Apparently it's better on mac but it's the same slow, overbearing lump that doesn't pick up about 200 music files of mine for NO PARTICULAR REASON. Thankfully Clementine is a half decent foobar2000 alternative.

Had my first big problem with Lion. My mid-2010 iMac wouldn't wake up from sleep when pressing a key on the keyboard. Pressed the power button and it woke up but still neither the keyboard or mouse would work. Plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse logged in but Bluetooth was turned off and unable to turn it back on. Reboot cleared it, seems to be a reoccurring issue with Lion though.

I use Ecoute as my main music player as it looks great, has built in gestures, doesn't much resources and it connects to your iTunes library without needing to have iTunes open.

Anyone able to help me out with the following?

When I close Safari rather than it opening on my home page or my top sites it opens the last page I was on before closing Safari previously. Had a quick look through the menu's but couldn't find an option to disable this so figured it may be quicker asking the question here

Cheers :)

What I want is something that has decent seperate playlist support. Clementine is the only one I've found that can do it. Having a "library" is useless as my library of music is stored on an external hard drive which isn't connected half the time. I have copies of my favorite tracks on my SSD and want one playlist with all of those copies on, and one with my entire library. iTunes cannot deal with having 2 copies of the same file in any remotely nice way. Clementine gets round it by allowing playlists full of songs NOT in your library.

Trying Ecoute now but the iTunes library tagline has put me off!

Can get around this by cmd clicking iTunes when opening it and choosing seperate libraries, but it's a laptop; I want to be able to plugin and go, and Clementine is the only thing that can do this, it seems. I miss Foobar terribly and cannot get global shortcuts working with wine so it's again, useless.

This should do it:

Safari Preferences (choose Top Sites):

System Preferences > General:

I guess that's the new 'Resume' feature. It's just loading Safari as it lasts remembers it, rather than launching a new copy each time.

Only two ways around it that I know of.

1) Turn off 'Resume' in the General settings tab. I don't think there's a way to turn it off just for Safari unfortunately.
2) Command + Option + Q - use that keyboard shortcut to quit Safari and discard all open windows each time you quit.

Guys I'm installing a Vertex 2E (120GB) today, I understand Trim is enabled on Lion, is there anything I need to do or just install the disk out of the box and install Lion?

Any sort of formatting required to make the most out of the disk?

Many thanks

Mart

TRIM is only enabled for Apple SSD's in Lion at the moment - I'm not sure if there is a 3rd party TRIM enabler out yet, someone else may be able to point you in the right direction :)

I realise most people on here are not using launchpad, but i have a quick question. I want to organise it so that all my relevant used apps are sorted and on the first page, but i can't see any easy way to adjust the layout or move icons between pages. Any ideas?

Cheers for the help here, I managed to create a boot USB stick and install Lion on all my other Macs.

Airdrop is fantastic!
