The Penguin

Well written, well acted & the story treats the viewer like a grown-up - enjoying this so far, but especially Miloti whose big eyes really do help convey this change between "nice & nasty psycho" really well.

Another really good episode.

I've seen some reviewers say they didn't get the need for a Gotham version of Sopranos, when "it doesn't really have any links to the movie" but I think the fact the city was bombed/flooded is a pretty big plot point so far.

This bodes well. I only watched the first episode so far but really liked the movie and Colin Farrell plays this really well.

A gangster show set in Gotham is a good idea. I'm not familiar with the Batman 'universe' outside of all the movies so I wonder if any other characters from comics etc. will show up.

Another really good episode.

Just goes to show what an absolute monster Carmine Falcone was, even worse than depicted in the movie.

Plus it made sense of a question I had from the end of the last episode: Why hadn't Penguin tried to save Sofia as well.

Not one for writing reviews..

But **** me this is some top class TV.. I just watched episode 4 twice and I've never done that before with any TV series lol..
This thread is strangely quiet, where does everyone go when there is actual must-watch quality TV on?

Compare it to Rings of Power which has 3000 posts.

It's the internet people don't care about things when they are decent... Go watch any YouTube video.. when something flops it receives 10x the views and comments then it would if it was a success...
Sad but true :(

And you get comments in threads like:
Watch the critical drinker review

As if it's some sort of useful feedback/opinion

I thought episode 5 dropped the ball a bit on maintaining the quality of the previous 4 episodes.

The abduction of Salvatore Maroni's son seemed rushed, and even though Penguin did have him as leverage, Sal seems to almost run the prison so it seems weird that they just didn't grab Oz up and torture the location out of him. Maybe an extra line that Oz has to call every 30 minutes or he dies would have been useful. Also the scene with Sofia and Johnny at the table with the underlings wasn't convincing to me. I'm paraphrasing but it was along the lines of: "I killed all your bosses and now you should work for me because they used you and never gave you anything, here's a bag of cash, help yourselves"

I enjoyed aspects of it, but not up to par with earlier episodes IMO

Only just caught up with the two previous episodes. 4 was some of the best TV I've seen in a long time, 5 was a slight dip but still well above the standard I've become accustomed to in recent years.
