Traded in my PS3 phat today, have done it early as my mate at the shop told me the trade value was lowering, so no Playstation for 2 weeks , can't wait to get my hands on the slim, I may actually play some Halo 3 on-line now

Ive just put my phat on the bay, upgrading HD to 160 to get a better price and I've pre-ordered a slim.. Just hoping it's a little quieter when playing Fifa09 and Fight Night 04... Other than that, I was extremely happy with my old PS3, which was originally only a 40 before i slapped a 120gig in it. It was always SILENT til i played those two games then after about 10mins the fans go to full pelt..

Still have my original 60gig, which i'll keep cos it was one of very first launch day consoles. I was one of the lucky 150,000 gits to grab one on the day of launch back in Nov06 (USA) Never seen a day of non-use !

How much did you get for the trade in mate? I take it you just paid the difference to pre order the slim from the same shop?

Yes it is, but both consoles now only come with composite which isn't HD. I don't think it's a big deal at all tbh, never have, i mean i just bought a relatively high quality 2m HDMI cable (gold plated, shielded etc) for £3.85

It's marginally quieter than a fat PS3 according to all hands on experiences i've read.

Reading the forums on their site it was a much bigger problem and not isolated to them. For the record I've shopped there quite a bit and never had any problem - although admittedly not for a while as their prices aren't as competitive as they once were.

But that price for the PS3 changes that! Very seriously tempted by that. Found Killzone 2 online for £15 in the Platinum range due out that Friday too... sooooo... close to clicking order.

They still don't ship the PS3 with an HDMI cable though it seems - which is very stange. They sell the console as ths 'true HD experience', make a big deal about 1080p and BluRay and then don't even ship with HDMI Still, cheap HDMI cable is only a fiver so no biggie, but does just add to the weirdness!

Just to let you know Morrisons have Killzone 2 for £19.99 instore.

If you trade in the 80gb, you can pick up the slim for £119.

Platinum edition is not due out till next Friday, so copies in shops are likely to be the "normal" version, just heavily discounted due to platinum about to be released.

Yep, but online stores don't seem to be discounting it. In fact, most of my usual stores don't even list the platinum edition yet - probably hoping people don't know about it so they can shift their old stock. I found it on a ex-high street stores online store for £15.

Huge online retailer has the normal version for £19.99 which is still a discount on full price and at worst same RRP as it will be next Friday.

LBP GOTY edition is a USA exclusive (bizarrely). Comes with $30 dollars of DLC.

The popular video store gave me £130 credit for a 40gb phat, was £140 last week, trade value has gone down by £10 in a week, matey at the shop said it'll probably drop again soon, I then just used that £130 credit as a down payment/pre-order for the slim, I'll pay the difference once they arrive in store, which I was told 'should' be the 4th of September.
