****The Playstation 3 Slim Thread****

Lacie manufacture uber flat USB extension cables.

Admire their flatness

lol, it's err... "pretty", but not quite what I had in mind :p

Black would be nice for starters! And that connector is mahooosive - would stick out of the front of the console and ruin the lines. A low profile right angled connector would be awesome. That way you can just fold the cable 180 degrees under the console (as its lying down) then round to the back.

Oh well, maybe Joytech or someone will make a stand with built in rear USB hubs?

Cheers,

Su

I did the same as lowrider007 on Saturday, I went and traded in my 40gb for £130 store credit and put down £20 deposit on the slim.
Best to get it over and done with before the trade in value drops further I decided.

Now I need to decide on wherever or not to get the extended warranty which is £35 for 3 years.
I expect I will as it seems better value to get that than getting continuousplay once its up and running again.

The store will be getting them in time for the 1st so just over over a week without one in total :(

The only real reason I'm replacing my original 60GB with the slim is because of warranty reasons. I reaaaally dont fancy losing £399 which I paid a few months after release.

Do they even fix the original anymore?
Same reason as me - cant justify the PS2 BC when I have a PS2 slim on the shelf above it and just dont get time to play PS3 titles let alone PS2 ones (only would be GT and MGS series really)

Shame the new one looks so 'plain' though...

ps3ud0

I think that's probably the worst way to get max bang for buck. Should have auctioned it.

True. but in all honestly I couldn't be bothered dealing with the auction site, I'm tired of the fees and all the hassle it entails, plus (and I know this is sad) I actually would feel guilty selling off my 40gb with no warranty knowing that if it breaks that person is buggered, I'd rather lose £40 on it and get the job done simply and out of the way now, no hassles.

I got charged £20 from ebay when I sold my 60gb for £260.

There is noway on this planet would I get anywhere near that for my standard 40bg with six-axis controller, the original 60gb's are quite in demand as they are the only system with full bak-com-pat hardware support and all the extra's, and like I said, I can't be assed with the whole auction site process, the fee's, creating the advert, waiting on peoples bids, packaging up the system and finding the time to post it off, transferring the money from paypal to my bank acc etc, just can't be bothered with it all, I've only probably lost about £40 off my ps3 compared to if I had auctioned it, and also like I said I don't really want to sell the system with no warranty.

I've got 2x 40Gb PS3's at the moment. One in each living room.
Now what can the slim offer me that my 40Gb's dont offer me?
Im not bothered about HD space as my files are kept on a network......

If i do get one then one of the 40Gb's will be going up into the bedroom to use as a DVD player....

So whats better on the slim?

The Slim has 4d graphics.

Seriously though, all the info you need is presently nicely in the OP.

It's lowered powered, supposedly quieter, and can do bit-stream HD audio, apart from that, nothing, as far as we know.

Nice one.

Where do i order?
Dont need one but might aswell have one.
